R.I.P.

Lily played her last game with her travel team, Red Thunder, two weeks ago.  She has played with the same team for the last five years, U10-U14.  While they have elluding the coveted state title, they can count on one teammate's hand how many in-season games they have lost and they have made it to state playoffs the last few years

As we pulled into Coach Christina's driveway for the end-of-season dinner we saw a lawn of crosses. Coach's family created a graveyard scene which also included fog and bagpipe music.  On each cross was the year, name of each team they beat, and the score of the game. It was an impressive 78 crosses A.K.A. wins on their lawn!

I Got This!

(Close Up Included)

by Lynette Daniel, Owner of Scrap That Moment

Miss Hannah Gebhart was so serious playing Princeton Youth Soccer defense this year! She was a blast to shoot. Maybe she tried a little harder knowing I was on the sidelines just for her. ;) I loved this tongue in cheek picture it shows her determination and playfulness all wrapped up in one darling little girl. I was inspired to try something totally unique with the soccer paper, the idea was to get a mixed media look by using watercolors and paints. The trick was blending all the layers together with a chevron design. I mitered the "frame" corners to continue the motion of the page. I hand drew the title which I tried to mimmick a font called "Bring The Noize" that seems to have an attitude to match. Thanks for looking and appreciate your comments!

Kick

I know I have said it before but I really love how easy it is to mix and match all of the Scrappin' Sports & More papers.  On this layout I used 6 different papers and 1 set of cardstock stickers.  I love the look of the chevron with the stars and the colors were perfectly matched to my daughters soccer colors.

I have done so many soccer layouts over the past 12 years and I love how Scrappin' Sports & More papers keeps them looking fresh and new!

Here is what I came up with....

Scrappin' Sports & More Product Used:
#1431 Sports & Activities - Wrestling (red chevron)
#1395 Girls Rule - Tennis (yellow)
#1384 Title Sports - Wrestling (background grey stars)
#1379 Title Sports - Soccer (both green papers)
#1349 The Sport Is - Soccer (soccer balls)
#5541 Name of the Game - Soccer (soccer balls cardstock stickers)

Thanks for stopping by!  Having a wonderful week.

Altered Antique Clock

One of my best friends, Tina Gebhart is a GREAT mom. She works all day then comes home to 4 kids and all their activities and she still finds time to coach her daughter's city league soccer team. She's been my bleacher buddy at our son's football games for the past 4 seasons. For Tina's birthday, I wanted to make her something different. The area that we live (Princeton, IL) in is known for antiques and flea markets. I picked up this wood mantel clock that had seen better days. I call this piece "Time with Hannah." I did a photo shoot of her daughter a couple weeks ago and got a darling shot of her playing goalie looking down field waiting for the ball to dare to come near her. I used the Sports & Activities Soccer paper line on the front face and designed "grass" out of cardstock. I love using scrapbook papers for home decor and I especially liked spoiling Tina by capturing a memory of her little angel in "time." Thanks for your comments, I really do appreciate your feedback.

All my best, Lynette Daniel

Which Sport?

Last week I created "What Sport Will You Play?" during my Helmar Live Ustream class.
I made sure it was full of the great sports papers from the "Title Sports" line.

My grandson, Chase, is going to be an athlete!  He has a natural attraction to any sports ball and running.  It just makes me wonder what sports he will play when he is old enough to make a choice.
My bets are on soccer and baseball!

"Title Sports" Supplies:
Football paper (#1372)
Baseball paper (#1367)
Soccer paper ((#1379)
Hockey paper (#1375)
Golf paper (#1373)
Basketball paper (#1368)
Cardstock Stickers:
Baseball (#5544)
Basketball (#5550)
Soccer ((#5530)

Love this game

For several years now Victoria has been in love with all things soccer.  She plays pretty much year round and when she isn't playing it we are watching it on tv.  I have to say that her passion for the game has rubbed off on me too.  I absolutely love going to the games and watching her play.  My hope is that she will continue to keep her foot on the ball long after high school is finished.

I love that I was able to get 5 photos on one page and you can still see all the action of the game.  I love the combination of the red, blue & green from the SS&M papers.  And while the zebra print is a neutral, I love how it pulls everything together.

Scrappin' Sports & More Paper:

#1405 Sporty Words - Soccer
#1387 Girls Rule - Cheer (zebra print)
#1374 Title Sports - Gymnastics (blue stars)

What a Kick!

Ever since I went Christmas shopping last November and saw The Gap with string art signs, I've wanted to incorporate it into my scrapbook page.  I started out with a simple L shaped design and used different colors of twine to make the design.  Once it was finished, it reminded me of a soccer net, thus the inspiration to make this page.  I think it adds some fun dimension to the page.  I cannot wait to try another shape in the future!

Final Season

These pictures were taken during Madalyn's final season playing in Findlay.  We are in the process of moving to North Carolina, so I wanted to make sure I captured a couple of photos from here last season playing in Ohio.  I'm happy to say it's not the end of her soccer career, just changing teams.

I love the new trend using hexagons, so I decided to create a layout using some of my favorite papers.  I love that this layout can be created completely from leftover paper from other projects.  Next time though I need to invest in the Sizzix die to make it easier :)

We have been very blessed to have some amazing Guest Designer the past several months and Suzanna Lee our guest for July is no exception.  I love all the layering she did on this layout.  She created the perfect backdrop for pictures of her daughter.  I love all the stitching and the "ribbon" she created out of the blue patterned paper.  Excellent job!!

Soccer is my Life

A New Year's Day Soccer Tournament didn't sound like my cup of tea, but Cammy sure had fun playing!  Her team won her division and she played very well, too!!  I added lots of circles to my layout to mirror the title cut out of the Girls Rule paper.

A Dose of Humility

Let's be honest-- we love to see our kids walk away with the gold.  I'm no different- I love to see my kids succeed at what they love.  But, in this case, I think that my son's losing what the best thing that could have happened.  He's been lucky that sports have come easy to him.  He easily won his age division of the soccer shoot out.  Then came regionals...  We tried to get him to practice, but he thought he had it nailed.  Even during the wait before the event started, he didn't practice (although he was being a nice guy and retrieving balls for other boys who were practicing.).

When it came time for his turn, he missed once and then again, and again.  It was hard to watch him lose, but it opened up a conversation about working hard to succeed. I hope that he will take this "dose of humility" and use it as an inspiration to work hard and do even better next year!  Win or lose, I'll always be his #1 fan!

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you were inspired!

Soccer Season

A few years ago Logan was really into soccer. As an officially soccer mom, I can remember running around every Saturday to watch him play in rain, sun and freezing winds. It is certainly not a sport for the weak at heart. But he always looked so cute in his uniform and he always tried so hard. I sort of miss those days as we move on to other sports. That's the best part of scrapping...pulling out those older pictures to scrap or looking at a layout you did from a few years back!

There is no off Season

It's seems with most sports there is really no off season.  In soccer we play all year long.  Maddy did a great job playing indoor this year; even scored a goal, which is pretty good for a defender!  I used the super-sized soccer ball as the background for my main picture.

Spring into Soccer

I just love spring time!  The birth of new life, the beautiful flowers, fresh spring air after a rain; it just really renews the soul.  But in our house it also means the start of a new soccer season.  I decided to combine lots of bright fun springtime colors when creating this Spring into Soccer layout for Maddy.  It was easy to do using left-over pieces from previous projects.  I can never bear to throw away those beautiful little scraps and it always makes me feel better to use them up!  Here is the layout I created.

Hope you are all enjoying this beautiful spring season!!

Great Soccer Tags by Jill

I am glad to be able to share another great idea from our April Guest Designer Jill Utrup.

As soccer season is starting up again in Ohio, it is the perfect time to use these tags created by Jill. These two tags go back to back of each other and were laminated to keep them from getting damaged.  They were then strung together by ribbon and put on her soccer daughters soccer bag so that she can self check to see if she has everything for practice or games!  Such a great idea!!

Meet Our Newest Guest Designer Jill Utrup!!

Today it is our privilege to introduce you to our next guest designer Jill Utrup.  I am really excited to show you some of Jill's work, but first a little about Jill.

Hi, my name is Jill Utrup and I am so excited to be a guest designer for Scrappin' Sports.  I have been scrapbooking for over 13year now.  I am a single mother of three children 2 girls 17 and almost nine and a boy who is 13.  My children participate in soccer, football, basketball, 4H, FFA, and choir.

I love the SSM lines!  Each new introduction brings new ideas and ways to use them for my children. I also love to take papers and use them for non traditional uses such as cards or mini albums. I love to brighten someone’s day even if he/she are suffering in a bad situation.  It lets them know someone is thinking of them.

This is the cheer paper and soccer paper.  The title is too big on the 12x12 paper to fit on one 8 1/2 x 11 page.  So by cutting it up and matting it I utilized the wonderful lettering.

Another Wonderful Layout from Lynette Daniel

We have some more amazing work from our guest designer Lynette Daniel to share with our fans today. I love the hand drawn title, the letters add a lot of movement to the page.  Her handwriting is Wonderful, should be a font!  I love the little picture of her son's feet; such a great idea!  If you love it too, make sure you leave her some love :)

"Beware! We're gonna kick your booty!"

I love how Lynette used the pirate theme for her soccer layout.  What a fun idea!!  The distressing technique makes it look rough and tough; perfect for a picture of young boys.  The title is hand drawn and painted; she did such an amazing job on the letters!  What an inspiration!!

Laces OUT!

I saw some really fun cards on the Fiskars website a while back and it was a fun idea that I tucked into the back of my head.  I knew I could adapt it to make some fabulously simple and cute cards with Scrappin' Sports papers!

These cards are perfect for a party invitation, a thank you for the coach, or even something sweet for your football fan (I get a kick out of you....).
Here's how I made the laces....

First, cut a strip of cardstock about 1 3/8" wide.  Then, punch one side with your Notebook Edge punch (mine is from EK Success).

Then, flip the strip of paper around and punch the other side.  Try to match the notches up as best as you can.

Then, using a sharp pair of scissors, cut the "nubbies" off.
Do the same on the other side and you have perfect football laces!
Just affix them to the front of your card made with some Scrappin' Sports football papers and you have a super sweet, simple card!  Isn't it so cute?!?!
