Simple Thank Yous

It is that time of year when an abundance of "Thank You" cards is a must!  This morning I whipped up these cards in less than ten minutes from the scraps of a few Scrappin' Sports & More projects I have created.  I love that the striped back sides of the "Title Sports" papers are unisex.

What do you do with your scraps?

Supplies from "Title Sports:"

National Championship Frame

This fall my friend and colleague coached his men's college soccer team all the way to the Collegiate National Championships!  He came to me a short time ago with a photo and the tournament program and asked me for "scrappy advice" to make a frame for his office.  After chatting and advising, I collected the materials from him and told him I'd take care of it because I had "just the thing" to do it with.  And, of course, Scrappin' Sports soccer papers are what I had in mind!
I wanted to keep the design simple.  Coach wanted to include the team roster, the team photo and the logo of the tournament.  That didn't leave a lot of room for much else.  But, I did go online, got the logo for the school, printed it and added it in.

Products Used:
#1379- Title Sports: Soccer
#1349- The Sport is....Soccer

Although the didn't win, they are number one in their coaches heart, for sure!  Congratulations, guys!

Just Dance!

In our house it isn't a family event if some kind of game isn't played.  Any game from Scattegories, to foozball, to Wii games. It all brings fun and laughter!  During a family event recently my neice and sister had quite the competition going while playing Wii "Just Dance 2."

Now, I think both of these dance papers are just perfect for this particular event. Clearly I was pointing out the obvious using them, but they are just so fun & the colors complimented the fun photos.

Merry Christmas!

This is my last post for Scrappin' Sports & More before Christmas, so I wanted to take a moment to wish everyone the happiest of Holidays!  I have throughly enjoyed sharing my work with you this year, and I hope that you have enjoyed seeing it.

I found a tutorial online for an origami star and thought it would make a fabulous Christmas ornament.  I used 3X3 inch sqares of the Preschool paper from the School is Cool collection and created this fun star.  The creases were distressed slightly to give it a vintage, country feel.  I added a button with some embroidery thread in the middle and a pretty velvet ribbon as a hanger.  I hope you enjoy it!

Baseball - sittin' out Layout

During the first week of summer this year, my son injured his foot needing stitches therefore missing his first sports game ever.  He was so bummed sitting out during his baseball game that he was determined to play the next game; so of course I had to capture him sittin' out of this game.

Thank You Santa!

Our family has been spoiled for over 25 years.  Santa Ed has been at every Christmas Eve celebration in our family for so long, in fact, I can't remember him not being there.  So many children, grandchildren and now even great-grandchildren have sat in his lap and felt the true love and joy that he has for making children smile.  He is a man with a gift, a gift that he freely shares by making over 100 Santa appearances every season.  It's a sad day for us this year, as Ed has retired and no longer wears his red coat.  We will miss you Santa and we will be forever grateful!

Down & Back

Last year was Lily's first year swimming competitively.  She took to it just like a fish in water.  The pics in this layout are of Lily doing the backstroke in the Maine YMCA State Meet.

I used both sides of "The Sport Is..." Swimming paper (#1351).  The word side of the paper was cut into a wave as a play on the waves in the water.  To pull the yellow out of Lily's swim cap, I used the yellow Tennis paper (#1381) of the "Title Sports Line" as accent paper.

Happy Swimming!

Spread some Holiday Cheer!

I played with a super-fun technique today to create a simple, but eye-catching card.  And, it's a great design to show off Scrappin' Sports and More's great colors and patterns!  I combined four different papers into a herrinbone pattern to create the card background and then just added a simple sentiment sticker and a small embellishment from my stash.

Products Used:
#1380- Title Sports: Softball (red)
#1381- Title Sports: Tennis (yellow)
#1333- Sports Head On: Track (green)
#1248- Game Day: Soccer (black)

Isn't that fun?!?! Now that I have it all figured out, I definitely want to make more of these for every season! We'd love to see your take on this design! If you try it out, share it on our Facebook page so we can shower it with love!!

Championship 2011!

Hi everyone, I have another team photo to share with you today!

This photo was taken after my son's football team won their fourth SuperBowl in five years - and we have a shot like this each year!  But, what I especially love in this photo is that you can see the score board!  Very cool!

This  layout features one of my all time FAV papers made by Scrappin' Sports & More - the Reflections line!   It also features papers from recent releases such as The Sport is ... and Title Sports - see how well the different lines by SSM work together!

Athlete in Action!

We had such a great time while Emma was here visiting last fall.  The boys couldn't get enough of her and were alwasy fighting for her attention...it's not surprising that they taught her every sport imaginable while she was here.  What is surprising is how fast she picked them all up!  Just look at that form with the soccer ball - arm back, head down - perfection!

Sophomore Year 2011

It's hard to believe that summer is gone and we have already experienced the first snow fall of the "winter".  It seems like the first day of school was just a couple of days ago.  I had fun using up my scraps of paper to create this fun colorful layout.  I can't bear to through away any piece of these bright fun papers!  What do you create with your scraps?

Take me out to the ballgame!

We went to watch baseball a lot this summer and had fun taking pictures while we were there. I couldn't part with many of them, so I wanted to add as many to the layout as I could. To bring it all together, I used a Super Sized Sticker...so fun!!

Oh my - Another Baseball Player?

Sports is just what we do here in my house - and basball lingo is our second language.  As the boys get older, I have been starting to accept that it won't always be that way.  Soon, they will be out on their own and their families will come first and their love of baseball will have to find a new spot in their hearts.  But, it does my heart good to see Emma pick up a baseball and fall in love with the game too.  Time for another generation of ball players!

He Looks Great in YELLOW!!

My son was ecstatic to be invited to test for his Yellow Belt after just three months of Karate classes.  He was so focused and worked so hard throughout the two hour test and was all smiles as he posed with his Sensei wearing his newly earned belt.

My favorite part about this layout (besides my son's big smile) is the belt progression that I created with the punched circles.  Because SS&M has such a wide array of colors, I didn't have to dig very far into my pile of SS&M goodies to come up with a paper for each belt color!

Not just for school graduations...

The thing I love most about Scrappin Sports & More products is the versatility! My son recently underwent a 2 hour graduation ceremony where he earned his First Degree Black Belt (and yes...it was a loooooong morning!  LOL). But when it was time to scrap it, the Graduation Paper was what I turned to!!

My son's football team is truly 'an all for one and one for all team' - it sure is amazing to see such a strong bond between 10 year old boys.  About half of this team has played together since first grade!

Take Note!

I am not sure about all of you, but I am always grabbing for a little notebook.  I always carry one in my purse for remembering little tidbits I when I am out and about; from family memories to great quotes to crafty ideas.   These notebooks whipped up in no time at all!

I am throwing the "Life Is Beatiful" notebook in my purse today.  I die-cut the flowers, spritzed them with mist, crinkled and layered them.  Love how well the "Title Sports" papers hold their shape to give the flowers great dimension.

The "Memory" notebook is a gift for a co-worker who just had a baby. It will accompany a memory jar to store all the little slips of memories about her newborn son.  The upside down banner was simply created by punching 6 circles out of the paper, layering the circles, & them cutting them in half.  Again, it added great dimension.

Football...are you ready??

I just love the new Title Sports Football paper from Scrappin' Sports & More.  I combined it with some of the blue patterned paper from the School is Cool line and this layout really came together.  I did cut out the "football" letters from a second piece of the paper so I could put them over the added paper and maintain a nice even look to the layout.  I can't believe football is over for another season :(  I guess it's time for basketball!

Christmas Cards - Quick & Cute!

It's that time again, time to start to plan our Christmas cards.  I love quick & easy cards that my kids can help me make and that don't cost me more than a few dollars!  After all, we need all the time and money we can get at Christmas time! So, I always turn to my scraps.  With all the different sport papers from Scrappin' Sports & More, I have more than my share of scraps in all different shades of green.  Perfect for a cute Christmas tree card!

All you need to do is cut those green papers into strips, punch out some stars and hearts, and add in some brown strips and blue squares.

Then all you have to do is glue them on to your card base!  Cute & easy for sure!

It's that time of year....

...when we crafty folks need to start thinking about, and creating, those homemade holiday gifts.  I stopped by the dollar store today for some candles (which I did NOT find...), but found some super cute glass jars.  I figured they would be perfect for altering into gifts!  For this one, I don't know what i'll put in it yet-- maybe those red and green M&M's, or maybe even a small candle (if I can find one!).  Either way, I think it came out really cute, and I think I know just who it's going to be a gift for!

Who can resist a photobooth??

I know we can't!!  My daughter and I LOVE to hit the mall and do a little shopping and just have a good time (and maybe a latte!!). Scrappin Sports & More has an awesome family line that allows me to scrap our fun times at the mall so easily.  The papers are 2-sided. The "me" was cut from the word "mother"...how handy, huh?

What special things do you do with your kids?  I'll bet we have paper for that!!

Pride Layout

This year when it came time for our son to get his 'play-off mohawk' in football ... my DH decided to join the boys and sport a mohawk of his own!  In this photo, five of the six boys have been getting mohawks together since the first grade (they are in 5th grade this year!)  Great memories!

I think it's SUPER COOL to use SSM's Custom papers to add the team name and colors to a layout!

Ever have your child play a sport and after the season ends he/she tells you they didn't really enjoy it?  That is what happened after Lily played basketball.  She had skills, she was fast, she got a lot of play time.  Every season since a coach has invited her to play and she kindly turns them down.

I decided to do the photo of my son wearing his Rally Cap at the Portland Sea-Dogs game.  He was there with the team that he was the bat-boy for (all 7th graders) and had a blast just being "one of the guys."  Unfortunately the team got absolutely creamed!  But, he did is part to cheer them on by putting on his Rally Cap and getting the rest of the boys to do the same!

Sanford Soccer & PageMaps

Did you all see this month's PageMaps?  The designers here at Scrappin' Sports & More had the honor of using Becky's sketches and being showcased in the November PageMaps.  Using an 8 1/2" x 11" sketch, I created "Sanford Soccer."  I used papers from several different Scrappin' Sports & More lines to achieve this totally soccer layout.

I loved the sketch Becky assigned me, but I am more of a 12" x 12" scrapper.  So I took the 8 1/2" x 11" layout and simply added it to some white cardstock giving me the size I needed.

The end of the season

It's hard to believe that another football season has come to an end.  Alex had an amazing season, almost went undefeated, darn last game!!  I wanted to focus on his picture for this layout as it shows me how fast he is growing up.  I used the Football Title Sports paper as my background and used some scraps form the School is Cool line and Title Sports lines for some fun color!

Friday, October 28, 2011

Thanks, Coach!

As the soccer season winds to a close, it's time to think of a way to say "Thanks" to the coaches to give their time to our kids.  Both of my kids play for a "rec" league where the coaches are all volunteers.  I think they deserve a little something speical at the end of a long (WET!) season.

So, I made this card (three of them, actually) as a token of my appreciaton for what they've done for my kids.  This could easily be adapted to any sports season using the wide variety of papers that Scrappin' Sports has to offer!

Here's the front:
And, here's the inside.  I created a pocket to put a Dunkin' Donuts gift card in.  Based on the weather forecast, they are going to need a nice, hot coffee to warm them up after this weekend's last game!  I also put a blank spot at the top (using non-textured cardstock) to write a note of thanks.

Sorry Mom....

This week we get to share the fabulous sketch at Sketch Inspiration!  Scrappin' Sports is giving away a FABULOUS prize package of papers and stickers, so get on over here and post your take on the sketch!

We had a new addition to our family in August...Duffy the Goldendoodle.  He's about the sweetest, most mellow puppy I've ever seen.  He's only a little naughty, but that's a part of his charm!  I love taking photos of him although he usually tries to chew on my camera strap during our "photo sessions" so the photos aren't always the best.  This photo is a bit of an "out-take" but it truly made me laugh out loud when I saw it.  What are the chances of getting this shot again?  I can just pictue him saying, "Sorry, Mom!  I think I blinked!"

**I created the camera using just a corner rounder, some circle punches and som foam tape for dimension!  Isn't it CUTE?!

Dance Diva

We all had the pleasure of designing examples for this week's sketch at Sketch Inspiration.  The sketch this week was exactly what I needed to pull together a layout using this picture of Lily right before last year's dance recital.

All of the patterned papers I used for "Dance Diva" are from the Title Sports line.  Don't you just love how bold and fun the colors look together?  They are a great compliment to the yellow in Lily's dance costume.

"Title Sports" supplies used:
Tennis Paper (1381)
Dance Paper (#1371)
Prom Paper (#1378)

Adding the white dots on the right side, under the title, helped make the colors of the SS&M papers pop even more.

Since I wanted a bit of dimension when I created the dots, I used a simple technique often seen in multi-media art with the items below.

To create the textured dots place the punchinella on the paper where you want your dots and hold firmly.  Dip your sponge/brush into the Gesso and simply dab the sponge/brush directly over the punchinella and onto the paper.  Once you have the desired effect just lift the punchinella straight up (as to not smear the Gesso).  Let the Gesso dry completely.

This is a messy technique, so be sure to put something like a splat mat or newspaper underneath your work area.  You can mix any color paint into the Gesso for a colored dot effect. I also recommend creating the dots on the paper and then adhering that layer to the rest of your layout/card/project since Gesso is a wet medium.

I hope you enjoyed this simple tutorial.  Now go on over to Sketch Inspiration to grab this week's sketch & enter your take on it to be eligble for an awesome prize package from Scrappin' Sports & More!
