Happy Father's Day!!!

I hope everyone is getting to spend some time with that special Father figure in their life.  It's a beautiful day today and we are enjoying just being together as a family.

Today I am sharing my take on the Project 12 May sketch from Scrapbooking and Cards Today.  I LOVE how easy it is to get an entire month summerized in 2-pages.  The sketch didn't quite have enough room for my photos, so I added a couple more and diveded some of them into two.  The result, a 2-page layout, with 9 pictures summerizing my month.

Gardening: We Dig It!

I created this layout for May's Project 12 Challenge.  I used the left side of the two-page sketch and made a layout about planting our garden.  Every May we plant vegetable and herbs in our two raised bed gardens in our back yard.  This was our third year doing it and we love planting and tending our garden together as a family!

Project 12 and Graduations

It's that time again...May is filled with graduations.  This year we had 3.  For the past few years we have had at least one every year.  It will only be four short years before I will be (sniff) hosting my own daughter's  graduation.  By then, I should have plenty of practice scrapping the pictures!!  This time, I used the sketch from Project 12.  It fit the pictures for my niece, Brianna's graduation just perfect.  She is a graduate of Shirley High School is the town of Shirley, Arkansas.  Go Bri!!!

I used both sides of the Scrappin Sports and More Defining Senior paper for this layout.  Both sides are so completely different, but work so well together.

Believe

Believing in yourself, having faith in God and your Family was the theme for my April 2010 Project 12 layout. I really had no plans for this layout until I really looked at my pictures and I realized that just believing in these 3 things made our whole month memorable. I hope this is something that my children remember as they grow and go through the trials that life throws their way. Believing in yourself is a powerful thing and backed by your faith and your family, you can get through anything.

#1300 Pigs (pink) Down on the Farm line
#1219 Defining Spring Paper (words)
#1152 Classic Hockey (blue)
#1226 Frozen Treats (yellow)
#1033 Defining Running

Journaling:
This one word can sum up our whole month. Believing in yourself and your abilities is such a strong lesson. You can and will succeed when you dig deep, work hard and have faith in your abilities. All three of you set goals, worked hard and made me and your coaches very happy with your track accomplishments. This month was also the celebration of our faith in God, not only with the Easter season, but also with Victoria’s confirmation. She has taken this responsibility of her faith very seriously and we are all very proud. Angie stood up as her sponsor and Victoria honored her by choosing Angela as her confirmation name. Lastly, believing in your family, that they are always there for you no matter what life throws your way. You can always find strength in our love. You can always come to us and find comfort in our arms. You can always talk with us and find wisdom in our words. We are here for you. Always & Forever, Just Believe.

Thanks for taking a look.

Project 12...the good and the bad

April was a month of ups and downs for our family.  We went on a WONDERFUL vacation, but ended the month in a serious car accident that totalled our vehicle.  So this month when I was working on my Project 12 layout, I wanted to make sure to document it all.  Because afterall, what is life but a bunch of ups and downs.  We often document the holidays, the cute things our kids say, etc.  But sometimes it is good to write down what went wrong...or a trying time we're going through.

I hope that this inspires you to scrap some of the harder times.  Afterall, it is from our darker times that allow us to see the light!

Blessing to all!!

A Minor Adjustment!

Project 12 is a fabulous challenge and a great way to document a month in review. But, I have to admit that I struggle just a bit. There are months when I carry my camera everywhere and am able to capture on print the true highlights of the month. But, there are also months, that my crazy busy schedule keeps me from taking any pictures at all. So, what is the best way for me to utilize these great sketches and fun challenges?

I just made a minor adjustment for myself! And you know what? That is the beauty of the challenge. You can use that fabulous sketch in any way that works for you! You can use the sketch for any subject, document your month without the sketch or do any of the options in between! With that said -- here is my layout documenting an everyday moment using the right side of the 2page sketch for inspiration!

Project 12: March Sketch

Wow - I cannot believe how fast this year is going and that we are already well into April!  These project 12 sketches are going to be great to look back at a 2010 recap!

Here is the fabulous PageMaps sketch for Project 12: March:

Here is my take on the sketch:

I had planned on using a lot of greens for this sketch, however none of photos really called for the green!  Luckily I had a lot of other papers and colors to pick from!

Journaling:
March 2010
Seth performed in his school's talent show with his speedstacks.  March was filled with snow and baseball - Seth is learning to pitch!  We painted our formal living and dining rooms -aka- my scraproom, office and Seth's game room.

THEN I realized I forgot some journaling so I added it to the back:
We also found out one of Seth's best buddies, Peyton was moving to MN - Seth was devastated!  It was two weeks of sleep-overs and playdates!  Luckily, they are planning a visit back to CO in May and are hoping to be back in CO within a few years!

Project 12 - February!

My goal with my Project 12 layouts this year is to focus on the month as a whole -- about what that month in general means to me. For January it was a special event, CHA, that I attend every January and look forward to all year. For February, it's more about the month in general -- the end of the long Winter season. Living in the Pacific Northwest, the months of January & February can be pretty dreary! So, I am always on the lookout for little things to brighten my day and bring a smile to my face. One thing that always does that for me is a trip to Starbucks for a Cinnamon Dulce Latte! Then I bring it home and pour it into one of my cute mugs and I have instant happiness! Funny how the little things in life can help you get through a long, dreary winter!

Here is areminder of what the February Project 12 Sketch looks like from over at Scrapbook & Cards Today.

Day 3 of Project 12

As promised, today is Carolyn's take of the January Project 12 sketch sponsored by Scrapbook & Cards Today.

Journaling:
January 2010
brought us warmer temps without any snow! We spent a lot of time with Seth's basketball; I started exercising six days a week again; Seth received a buzz cut because the gal at Floyd's didn't listen to Rick; Rick & I celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary; Rick & Seth shot their BB guns; we played lots of games, puzzles and of course with Legos! January was a nice calm month - a great way to start 2010!

Day 2 of the Project 12 Posts

As mentioned yesterday, we are all participating in the Project 12 challenge at Scrapbook & Cards Today blog.  Today, Kim Holmes took the sketch in a bit of a different way and used only the left hand side of the sketch. She chose to use the sketch to highlight her most recent trip to CHA this past January.

Again, here is the sketch provided by Becky Fleck.

Here is Kim's take on the sketch.

Journaling Reads:

The highlight of January was the trip to Anaheim for CHA. I loved hanging out with Sherry, Brenna, Robert, Robyn & Carla. I got to meet some online friends too – Christine and Tanisha to name a few! It was fun seeing my art up in a few places and meeting all the great people who run the DT’s. Tons of fun!
