Oh, new papers! They are FANTASTIC!! The colors are great, the designs are wonderful and they are so fun to work with! Today I wanted to share some of the "b" side patterns that are so fun! There are dots, stripes and chevrons! And the colors are so yummy!
I've been waiting for just the right opportunity to scrap this photo of my daughter and when my new papers arrived in the mail, I knew this was it!
Here's a closeup of the sun! Isn't the yellow just perfect up against the blue?
And check out this little flower garden! So stinkin' cute!! I used the thin green stripe from the teeball paper for the flower stems!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my project and that you are as excited about the new papers as I am!

New Papers = New FUN!!!
It's always so exciting to open a package of new papers...ahh..I even love the smell of them! (please tell me I'm not alone, here!) I just love the new "Sports and Activities" line..it's SO cute...and like Shannon, I was inspired first by the Softball Papers.
I chose to use both sides for my layout, and added the backside of the Workout paper for the red polkadots and some whimsy. I used the older Sports Head On Racing paper as the background as to me, it looks like the softball fence! I also used some of the Baseball Cardstock stickers as background to my title and the banner. I love how all the lines work so well together!!

Scrappin' Cards
I love using my left over scraps of SS&M papers for cards. Quite often I am creating a card on the fly. That so many of the SS&M lines have complimenting color schemes makes it so easy to pull together a nice card quickly.
My first card is chocked full of baseball goodness. Scott & his Dad are big Red Sox fans so the red, white and blue color scheme is perfect for them. I made this card as a Father's Day Card for my FIL, but really, it could just as easily been given for a birthday card.
I did a little bit of distressing on the edges of the paper and crinkled the Dymo "happy" for a bit of depth. The star is die cut using my Sizzix star dies and some corrugated cardboard.
Supplies:
Name Of The Game
Baseballs paper (#1255)
Girls Rule
Gymnastics paper (#1391)
"Hugs & Kisses" is filled with scraps from the "Title Sports" line. I am putting it away for when Lily goes away to soccer camp this summer. It will be her first time going to overnight camp and I want her to know that we are missing her while she is gone.
Supplies:
Title Sports
Cross Country paper (#1370)
Tennis paper (#1381)
Homecoming paper (#1376)
Girls Rule
Homecoming/Prom paper (#1392)
Sporty Words
Volleyball paper (#1407)

Final layout by our June Guest Designer Julie
SS&M would like to thank Julie Rainbolt for all her hard work this month. She did some amazing layouts for us and we are very grateful. Today I get to share one of my favorite layouts from Julie. I am a big fan of circles and was immediately drawn to the layout. She did a great job cutting out the word Hockey from the Title Sports paper and using it to create another layer, which makes it really stand out.

4th of July decorations...upcycling!
The 4th of July is just around the corner and if you are like me, you will want to have a cookout with cute decorations! Well, here is one that you can make with a used tin can (washed of course) and toilet paper rolls!!!
It's easy as can be. Start with a tin can (like one you use for veggies) and cover it with your favorite paper. Scrappin Sports & More has some amazing stars and stripes on the B side...and even some A sides. For this project, I used both #1374 Gymnastics from the Title Sports line and #1391 Gymnastics from the Girl's Rule line. Bet you couldn't tell this paper was from a GYMNASTICS line could you??
After you cover the can, cover the toilet paper rolls. The tops are made from circles. Just cut a large circle, slightly larger than the top opening. I folded it in 4th and cut along the 1/4th line. That allowed me to fold it under to make the tops. I attached the top with mod podge, but any glue would probably work. I then used skewers like you use for kabobs to add the tails to the rockets.
Embellish as desired and viola!

On deck layout
I have another baseball layout to share! :) We just spent the weekend in Steamboat Springs, CO at a pretty big baseball tournament - it's so much fun to go up there to play and lots of team bonding going on! I am torn with love and hate when my son is on deck with two outs, but I love when he is on deck with his catchers gear on, so naturally I had to snap some pics of it this weekend!

It's Volleyball Time!!
Our guest designer Julie Rainbolt has done an amazing job creating not one, but two fabulous volleyball layouts that we get to share with you today! I LOVE how she used the volleyball paper and the blue stars to create the award ribbon! It adds such dimension. Her titles just jump off the page and is a perfect way to display the team picture.
And here is her second layout. I love how the large volleyball sticker peaks out behind the photo. All the layers on this layout create great dimension. By cutting out the "Volleyball" title from the paper she has created a wonderful title that jumps off the page.

Just One of The Guys
Hey there, everyone! I hope you are enjoying a beautiful summer day!
For today's project, I was determined to use a photo that I'd already printed and just "had" to scrap, but hadn't got to it yet. I found the perfect one that was just begging for some SS&M papers to go with!
Unfortunately, my son was not able to play Little League, so we were on the lookout for an opportunity for him to continue his love and participation in baseball. And, the perfect opportunity presented itself when Colby was able to be the Bat Boy for the 7th Grade baseball team at the school that I teach at. The boys had been playing together since they were Colby's age, but took him in as though he'd been on the team all along. In the first practice that Colby went to, they boys were introduced to him and then started running laps. As they ran off, one of them turned around and said, Colby, are you coming?!" And, that's how it started!
The season continued and they taught him everything we need to know to be a part of the team-- what to do a bat boy, how (and when) to cheer for his teammates and, most importantly, how to spit sunflower seeds! I was so proud of my son AND my students for being a great team!
Enough yapping..... here's my layout! It's simple, because I wanted to focus to be on this fabulous picture of Colby on the bench with his team.
And, here's a close up:
(you may notice that there's no black line in the close up... I decided to add it after I took the first round of photos... it just needed "something else" and I forgot to take a closeup shot!)
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you were inspired!

2, 4, 6, 8....
Am I the only one that has bought sports photos and then found themselves with a slew of wallets left over many years later? I am loving that I have found these little gems to work with recently.
Kass was in cheering for a short 4 years. She outgrew it quickly as she headed towards those Junior High years. She was a good little cheerleader, too. She learned the moves quick and was always the tiny one on the top of the pyramid.
I found the felt numbers at a shop a few months ago and knew they would be perfect for a cheer page full of Scrappin' Sports & More papers. I made the banners by cutting 1 inch strips of "Girls Rule" Golf paper (#1390) and "Title Sports" Volleyball paper (#1383) and wrapping them around a thick toothpick. The Cheerleading paper (#1386) is from the "Girls Rule" line, too.

2 Layouts Today!
I created two layouts using my inspiration paper, the back of The Girls Rule Tennis Paper (Yellow Circles) with similar accent papers that have two very distinct looks. I challenged myself to use some of the scraps on my table after completing the Biker Girl layout to create another 12 by 12 layout. I am really happy with how they both came out. I dug out some pictures from 2003 and got to reminisce a little while I scraped :)
And here is the second layout. It's a little hard to see the edge of the white background paper but there is an half an inch outside the words. My poor little man had a bad ear infection and fever and just crashed on the couch. His face is beet red from the heat of the fever :(

Hey Batter by Julie
I know many of my friends are right in the middle of baseball season, so I am very happy to showcase this wonderful layout created by our June guest designer Julie Rainbolt. Julie has a very distinct style and loves to outline her papers and embellishments with black cardstock. I think on this layout it really makes the individual papers stand out. Look at that adorable smile :)

What's up Buttercup?
Every time we go to Arkansas to visit my sister in law, the kids are excited to go visit the horse, Buttercup, that lives next door. She is a very nice horse and enjoys the carrots she receives from my kids very much. It's hard not to stop and snap a picture because she is truly a very beautiful horse.
I have to say that it is very handy that Scrappin Sports & More also carries animal paper, so I always have plenty of horse-related paper and embellishments to use when I am in the mood to scrap some pictures of our dear Buttercup.

Album Tips
As you Sports Moms know, there are often hundreds, if not thousands of pictures taken during a season of our children's activities. As was the case with my middle daughter's Cheer Team...so I decided that I would create an album for her with all of the layouts for the year. Being that the first page of the album works so well as a title page, I created this page with the team photo and a large title.
I kept the design simple and I added the roster to the back of the layout since there were so many girls (over 60!). I think it sets the tone for the whole album and I just love that all of my pages will coordinate because I've been scrapping them with the Scrappin' Sports papers!

Last Day at SMS
The last day of school normally is a time that all kids are looking forward to, but that was not the case this year for mine. They knew is just brought them closer to the move. I know that I was really struggling, knowing it was our last year at SMS. It is such a wonderful community that I can't imagine finding something that compares. I was really expecting to find Maddy upset saying goodbye to all her friends, but I found just the opposite. She had a beautiful smile on her face as she hugged and said goodbye to all of her friends. They on the other hand were all crying :) She didn't know it, but it was a gift to me to see her so brave. I knew then that she was going to be just fine in her new school.
I started with the 6th grade paper from the school is cool line and then added little pops of color with some scraps I had from previous projects. I love it when I can use up those scraps! I think it really highlights the photos :)

6-3-12 Playlist
Our daily life is full of music. Not a day goes by that the house isn't full of our favorite songs whether it be in our cars or in the house. My husband, Scott, is even known to still play his favorite 80's records on the weekends. This weekend I thought it would be fun to document what we were listening to that day.
Scrappin' Sports & More has several lines that include music papers. I pulled out two of the lines to work on this layout, "The Sport Is..."(#1346) and "Girls Rule" (#1404).
The big curves with music notes is a SS&M Supersized Cardstock Sticker (#5569). I have been waiting for just the right project to use this! I cut pieces of the sticker off (initially it was round) and mounted the cut pieces on black cardstock. Doing this made them stand out on my page.
What are you listening to today?
