Atta Boy!

Asst. Coach Kevin Staton of Princeton Youth Football gives Zach Daniel an big Atta Boy! for catching a tough long pass against defenders and running it into the end zone. This proud mom wanted to thank each volunteer coach with a nice "cover page" to their custom PYFL albums I made. They have been uplifting, tough, and pushing my kid to be a rock star this season.

In the layout below, I (Lynette) decorated "tags" of the new "Sports & Activities" paper and embellished with May Arts chocolate silk ribbons. Special effects are made with metallic watercolors, chalks, and an opaque white marker to create what I call a "comfortable but formal grunge" style.

Thanks for looking, and appreciate any comments!

Life Is Like A Golf Swing

Hey it's Lynette, and it's double treat Tuesday! Where I load up TWO Scrappin' Sports & More projects! One that was displayed in my retail store never seen here AND another exciting fresh brand new one!

Below is a golf layout I made for SSnM's Design Team tryouts that was never shown on SSnM's Blog. It's a very simple layout that only used a few strips of textured cardstock to frame out the beautiful photo I took of Jessica Headley. I spent the most time hand drawing and painting the flourish across the photo and the "Name of the Game" paper. If you love my unique quote I wrote and would like to use it, please give me credit. :)

He's a Black Belt!

My son, Logan, worked very hard to earn his first degree black belt. With years of training several days a week, he finally got it. We were very proud of him. Luckily, everyone was pretty happy they got their belts so we could get a group picture of all the graduates!! And it was pretty handy that Scrappin Sports & More just released new Karate paper!!

Take martial arts classes? The other side of the paper is dedicated to Tae Kwon Do!!

Are you scared?

Does the thought of using sports themed papers for a Halloween layout scare you?  Do you shake in your boots at the idea of making "something" work?  Well fear no more, my friends!  I created this adorable Halloween layout using three of our papers and you can too!! I started with some fun photos I took last Halloween in our front graveyard-errr..yard...under our big tree...these children are my youngest daughter and her best friend all ready to go trick or treating.  My daughter was a little freaked out about her friend's Werewolf costume, I just love how the photos turned out with the Hipstamatic app.

The chevron background of my layout is the "B" side of the new Sports and Activities Volleyball paper and I used the School is Cool Second Grade paper for the orange stars.  My bats are from the School is Cool Freshman paper (a black on black polka dot)...I added my own chipboard tree (misted with the new Heidi Swapp color mists) and my little quote card that says "clothes make a statement- costumes tell a story".  I
stamped the Oct 31 on cardstock and created a little accent with a circle of the Second Grade Paper and some more bats...and there you have it!  A great Halloween page with sports themed papers- who would have thought it!!

Sportsmanship layout

I love to catch my son in acts of kindness during his games - here I snapped a photo of my son assisting the referee fix an athlete's equipment on the opposing team.   I worked one of my favorite quotes into my journaling "sports do not build character, they reveal it" and I am proud of my son's character!

Which Sport?

Last week I created "What Sport Will You Play?" during my Helmar Live Ustream class.
I made sure it was full of the great sports papers from the "Title Sports" line.

My grandson, Chase, is going to be an athlete!  He has a natural attraction to any sports ball and running.  It just makes me wonder what sports he will play when he is old enough to make a choice.
My bets are on soccer and baseball!

"Title Sports" Supplies:
Football paper (#1372)
Baseball paper (#1367)
Soccer paper ((#1379)
Hockey paper (#1375)
Golf paper (#1373)
Basketball paper (#1368)
Cardstock Stickers:
Baseball (#5544)
Basketball (#5550)

10 Years of Football

Happy Monday everyone!!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I am so excited to share this post with you today.  I had so much fun looking back at the past 10 years and remembering all the fun I have had watching Alex play football.  It all started when he was 4 years old and got his first Dallas Cowboys outfit.  I just love that photo of him all geared up on Christmas.

This is the first 2 page spread I have done in awhile and I am really excited about it.  I just love how all the Scrappin' Sports & More papers work together.  I used two lines of the football papers and combined it with some of the side B papers from other lines to add some color.  A few buttons, chipboard letters, stickers and twine and the layout came together better than I envisioned.  I hope you like it!

Here is the two page spread.

And here are the pages separate so you can see more of the details.

"X" COUNTRY

Hey, it's Lynette Daniel saying TGIF! to our Scrappin' Sports & More Bloggers! I'm sharing my brand new layout of St. Bede Academy's own Cross Country star Leo Lopez. Go Bruins! I took some perfect fall photos of Leo and used the glorious green tones in the (Girls' Rule) Golf! papers to match SBA's school colorsI used the backside for the outside border and the right side green & white "stripes" for the flag strips of journaling of his score/rank.  I streaked the Kraft cardstock with green paint and gave it a flow~ but cool masculine grunge look and topped it with a die cut X. Tried to replicate the "X" (cross) throughout the layout by using green staples on the journaling tags. Title is painted (chip) grungeboard.

Have a great weekend SSnM fans and hope this inspires you to try something new!

Milestones

For me, running a 4 mile race never seemed possible, but this year...at the ripe ole age of FORTY, I did it!!! Yep, I was slow, but I did it! So what was the first thing I did after gulping down a bottle of water, taking some Advil and a nap? I broke out my Scrappin Sports & More supplies and got to scrappin...

I definitely see more races in my future. Good thing I have a large supply of papers in my stash!!

Rhythm of Life

Another dance rectial layout from me..shocking, I know!  Well, when each girl does 4-5 dances in every show there are many photos to take!  It's always hard to get good photos during the recital because the lighting is typically dim and the girls are moving so quickly.  I tend to keep my photos small for printing because the larger they are the blurrier they are... so I use a group of smaller wallet sized photos to tell my story.

This was my first time using the "b" side of the Girls Rule Dance paper..I just LOVE it.  My daughter always looks so happy on stage...she loves to dance and it shows!  I offset the black and white of that paper with the "b" side of the Title Sports Dance paper because I love how the purple offsets the green of her costume. So there you have it.  Another great recital layout thanks to the Scrappin Sports papers!

be Bold.

Ahhh, that son of mine is full of personality and he isn't afraid to express it!  Last week before his baseball game, he swapped out his baseball cleats shoe laces for his running shoes shoe laces - yes neon pink and neon green!  I just love that he is so sure of himself!

Super Slide

Every year Lily wants to go to the Acton Fair.  If you want to do a pig scramble or check out the area's biggest pumpkin or the local farmers prize winning cows, this is the fair to be at!  For the kids the rides and socializing with their friends is the whole point of going to this fair held in our town every August.

Last year we brought Lily and her friends to ride the rides on a scorching hot August afternoon.  They didn't care one little bit.  They rode rides over and over.  I think they did the Super Slide repeatedly just to catch the breeze coming down.

Since the pictures and papers I chose were pretty busy and very colorful, I stuck with a clean design for this layout.  The "Slide" paper (#1411) from the "Sports and Activities" line was just perfect for this occassion.  I pulled out the green in the photo and Slide paper by using the kelly green striped "Cross Country" paper (#1370) from "Title Sports."

My last few Scrappin' Sports and More layouts have been full of green and yellow.  They really are my favorite colors to use these days.  What are your favorite colors to use?

Love this game

For several years now Victoria has been in love with all things soccer.  She plays pretty much year round and when she isn't playing it we are watching it on tv.  I have to say that her passion for the game has rubbed off on me too.  I absolutely love going to the games and watching her play.  My hope is that she will continue to keep her foot on the ball long after high school is finished.

I love that I was able to get 5 photos on one page and you can still see all the action of the game.  I love the combination of the red, blue & green from the SS&M papers.  And while the zebra print is a neutral, I love how it pulls everything together.

You've Been Served!

I added 2 projects to the blog today because one was done in the summer. I needed to use the leftover fresh flowers from designing St Bede Academy Homecoming bouquets for Adam Schweickert & Leo Lopez, they were big hits for their dates, lol. I decided to do a "follow up" from the martini glass and tennis tag from my Guest Design Team Debut using matching ribbons. This time, I covered a paper mache` wine decanter/carrier with The Sport Is.. tennis paper (both sides) and designed a lovely corsage down the side of the box. it's held on by a ribbon so the recipient can use the tennis themed carrier again and again!

Merry Mermaid by Lynette Daniel

Last year I did a very special photo shoot with stunning Meghan Ryan. I had gone to a thrift store and bought her a beautiful sapphire full length gown and literally threw her in the indoor pool at the park district making her the most gorgeous real life mermaid. I did her makeup with an angelic glow keeping it natural with silvery highlights and smokey eyes. I think she was even shocked to see the timeless beauty (she never wears makeup!). So back in mid July 2012, I made this Scrappin Sports & More layout for Scrap That Moment and wrote an article for a prom promotion calling it~ "Make A Splash This Prom." A few designers and customers have seen this previously and have been inspired, but this layout was never launched nationally since it was being saved for a major publication. Now that they have chosen another layout to be published, I can show off the original. Shockingly, I only used 1 piece of swimming paper and 2 pieces of WorldWin cardstock (both papers double sided). My signature style elements are hand drawing the title "Splash" (mocking a Scriptina font) with a simple black marker and added Stickles over it.. Next, I used my favorite metallic US Artquest & Prang watercolours on the background, photos, and subtitles.  The flower embellishments are made from the swimming paper with a touch of shimmer. Enjoy~!

Polka Dots, Green Bag

You would never know by the title that the layout I am sharing with you today is Lily's first day of 8th grade photo.  This is the first year that I didn't have a say in what Lily wore heading off for an occassion such as this.  I really wanted the cool pink dress with her jean jacket to be "the" outfit.  She had other ideas! Lily went with the polka dotted jean shirt and her new green canvas backpack.

I really wanted the polka dotted paper to pop in this layout so I chose the bright yellow dotted Gymnastics paper (#1417) from the " Sports & Activities" Line. I love how it stands out in contrast to the green cardstock.

To give my photo and all the bits of handcut chevron Racing paper (#1422 from "Sports and Activities) height, I used Helmar ZapDots.  You can see in the photo above how the picture and paper are about 1/8" off the paper.

What did your child wear for the first day of school this year?

#5 Hey batter batter ...

Around here an athlete's number is such a big part of them but when we play fall baseball they hand out t-shirts with the numbers 1-11 and you get what you get.  Last year was my son's first time ever playing a sport without his beloved #55 on his jersey ... but the #3 came and went in a blink of an eye.  This fall he is sporting the #5 on his baseball t-shirt.  The #5 is better for two reasons - it is the number worn by the Rockies Carlos Gonzales and because people tease my son about losing one of his 5's! :)

I Feel Like A Pro!

Hey Football Fans! It's Lynette Daniel the newest Design Team Member and since we are in the "throws" of the fall season and I wanted to make a bold graphic statement to replicate my son Zach's cool wide receiver gloves. When his hands are together it spells NIKE. To make this monochromatic layout, I started with a textured piece of white cardstock and hand painted the black burst. Then cut a neutral overlay of medium gray cardstock for the spiked effect. Next, I hand cut the PRO title with an Excel Hobby Blade and used black Stickles to make it shine. The clear football shape is hard to see in the scan but I hand cut the P logo for the Princeton Tigers and glued it on the helmet. Please give me your feedback on how you are "receiving" my new designs!

Time to Say Goodbye...

Hey, everyone!

Today is my last post for Scrappin' Sports & More.  Sadly, I've made the decision that it's time to move on.  My kids are only involved in a few sports right now and... well....it's just time to move on.  For my last post, I wanted to share some of my favorite projects that I've done during my time here at Scrappin' Sports.

And one of the very first layouts I ever did for SS&M is still one of my favorites:

I want to thank Lori, Karen and the rest of the SS&M Team for a wonderful time while on this team.  Not only have I learned a ton, but I have felt the love and support of this team for almost 2 1/2 years.  I am so grateful that they took a chance on me.  Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

I would love for you all to stop by my blog: Four Wise Guys and stay in touch.

And for the last time... thanks for stopping by the Scrappin' Sports Blog today.  I hope you were inspired.

Waiting for Daddy

I am sure that these photos are not new to many of you.  Our pets show such love for us.  Delta will wait forever by the back door waiting for her Daddy to come inside.  She will sit and whimper if he takes too long.  And then...once that door opens....she is just a wiggly mess.  LOL  We are so fortunate to be able to be shown this unconditional love by our pets.

It may be hard to tell but I curled strips of the blue stripped paper to create some flowers in the left hand corner of the layout.  I also roughed up the sides of my two background papers.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful day and hug those faithful pets!
