to have some fun with your scraps!! I love to go through my scraps from time to time just to challenge myself and see what I can create. So many times I come across papers that I had forgotten I still had and my mojo is kicked into high gear!
So here is a party invitation that I came up with using my scraps...
This was just a reminder of how many different colors and patterns of paper there are in the Scrappin Sports & More lines!!
What will you do with your scraps?

Merry Mermaid by Lynette Daniel
Last year I did a very special photo shoot with stunning Meghan Ryan. I had gone to a thrift store and bought her a beautiful sapphire full length gown and literally threw her in the indoor pool at the park district making her the most gorgeous real life mermaid. I did her makeup with an angelic glow keeping it natural with silvery highlights and smokey eyes. I think she was even shocked to see the timeless beauty (she never wears makeup!). So back in mid July 2012, I made this Scrappin Sports & More layout for Scrap That Moment and wrote an article for a prom promotion calling it~ "Make A Splash This Prom." A few designers and customers have seen this previously and have been inspired, but this layout was never launched nationally since it was being saved for a major publication. Now that they have chosen another layout to be published, I can show off the original. Shockingly, I only used 1 piece of swimming paper and 2 pieces of WorldWin cardstock (both papers double sided). My signature style elements are hand drawing the title "Splash" (mocking a Scriptina font) with a simple black marker and added Stickles over it.. Next, I used my favorite metallic US Artquest & Prang watercolours on the background, photos, and subtitles. The flower embellishments are made from the swimming paper with a touch of shimmer. Enjoy~!

Backstroke
The backstroke is Lily's least favorite event in swimming,
yet she is so graceful, so powerful.
I played on the yellow of Lily's swim cap by using the yellow dotted Gymnastics paper from
the Sports and Activities line. To create the half scallops in the same paper I used a punch
by Epiphany Crafts with the coordinating epoxy stickers and then cut them in half.

Two wonderful layouts from Guest Designer Lana Day
Again today I get to share not one but two wonderful layouts from our August Guest Designer Lana Day. As summer starts to come to a close, it's fun to look back and scrap those great memories. It seems the kids always have the biggest smiles when in the water and you can tell by the photos just how much fun these two are having! I love the little turquoise brads that she used to add some movement to this page.

Make a Splash!!
Even though we are back to school already, with the temps still in the 90's we feel like it's still summer, so I'm happily scrapping pics from summer (while enjoying the nice cool air conditioning in my scrap room!). Today I am using the Sports Head on Watersports paper and the new Sports and Activities Swimming paper to scrap a few pictures of my daughter enjoying our friend's pool.
I fussy cut the waves and bubbles from the Watersports paper, then used the wave as a template to create the wave cut on the swimming paper. I added some splashes of glimmer mist in the background and some stickles on the the bubbles for some bling then topped it off with a few rhinestones, too. A quick and easy, multiphoto page that came together in under an hour...just how I like them!

Wardrobe malfunction
Nothing is worse when you are on the swim team than when you lose your goggles. Luckily, this only happened to my son once this season, but when it did, he just kept swimming til he reached the end of the race. Mom, of course, was there with the camera to document!!

You are my Sunshine!
Oh, new papers! They are FANTASTIC!! The colors are great, the designs are wonderful and they are so fun to work with! Today I wanted to share some of the "b" side patterns that are so fun! There are dots, stripes and chevrons! And the colors are so yummy!
I've been waiting for just the right opportunity to scrap this photo of my daughter and when my new papers arrived in the mail, I knew this was it!
Here's a closeup of the sun! Isn't the yellow just perfect up against the blue?
And check out this little flower garden! So stinkin' cute!! I used the thin green stripe from the teeball paper for the flower stems!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my project and that you are as excited about the new papers as I am!

Swim Team Buddies
During last year's Maine YMCA State Swim Meet Scott volunteered on the swim deck as a runner. This allowed him to get some great pics of Lily and her swim team buddies. I think the comraderie of these girls just shines through in the photo!
Wanting to play on the yellow swim caps, I used the Tennis paper (#1395) from the new "Girls Rule" line. I spritzed it with some Tattered Angels' mist so as to pull in the blues.
To create the blue banners I cut out 1 and 1-1/2 inch strips out of the Watersports paper (#1335) from the "Sports Head On" line. I used my square punch to cut the banner ends out and then curled up the edge of the banners to give them some dimension. Such a quick way to create a banner!

Down & Back
Last year was Lily's first year swimming competitively. She took to it just like a fish in water. The pics in this layout are of Lily doing the backstroke in the Maine YMCA State Meet.
I used both sides of "The Sport Is..." Swimming paper (#1351). The word side of the paper was cut into a wave as a play on the waves in the water. To pull the yellow out of Lily's swim cap, I used the yellow Tennis paper (#1381) of the "Title Sports Line" as accent paper.
Happy Swimming!

She's Got Mad Skills
My Lily is a girl that sets her mind to doing all the things she loves and doing them well. This layout is all about what she is loving right now; music, swimming, dance and soccer. What do I love? I love that "The Sport Is..." line has theme papers for all of Lily's loves making them perfect for creating a fun layout of my girl.
The ruffles are made from the back sides of the swimming, dance & soccer papers. The bottle caps are made from SS&M stickers. Believe it or not, the music note bottle cap is made from the negative part of the Music Super Size Cardstock Sticker.

Having A Blast!!
Having a blast, that's what summer is all about. Summer time for us means trip to Michigan at Grandpa & Grandma's cottage on the lake. Love how carefree our days are up there. I was able to capture some fun photos of Mark & the kids in the water. It's hard to believe that I used the Title Sports and School is cool line for this layout. It just shows you the versatility of these lines. I love all the bright colors!

OHIO...Buckeye Country
For those of you familiar with Ohio State University, you will understand that the kids jumping off the raft are spelling out OHIO. It took a lot of picture taking, but I was happy to get one photo where you can make out the letters. The new Scrappin' Sports & More Swimming paper is the perfect backdrop for these photos. All I had to do is add a few pieces of cardstock in the red and grey and the layout was complete. What kind of swimming pictures do you have from last season that still need to be put in your scrapbook? This double sided paper is sure to get you well on your way :)

Dreaming of Summer!
It's been really cold here in Maine, but we are starting to feel glimpses of warmpth and seeing the sure sign of spring: MUD! The thought of being warm in the sun always makes me think of summer! Last summer, we discovered a fabulous beach that is only a short drive from our house. It's one of those beaches that is usually filled with just the "locals," so it's never really crowded. We spent many dreamy days there enjoying the sun, sand and surf. The kids liked the "surf" part the best and played with their boogie boards for hours just walking out and riding the waves back in with screeches and giggles every single time!
The "Simming" paper in the new "The Sport is..." line was perfect to scrap one of those priceless photos that I snapped at the beach this summer! And, it worked really well with the Watersports paper from the "Head On Sports" line that I used for the background.

CHA -- the Craft & Hobby Association's trade show is only about 10 days away and that means some fun new papers coming your way from Scrappin' Sports & More! I love to created with bright and cheerful papers and the new Swimming Paper is perfect for that! Now we all love to swim at my house but Cooper loves it the most by far! LOL --- he is a golden retriever after all!
Isn't that paper fun? The background paper is from the Down on the Farm line --- perfect for coordinating backgrounds! I love that both sides are so much fun and coordinate so well. In addition, the colors are a perfect match for the past swimming lines so they go great together! Here is another design using this line:

Sweet Summertime - Finally!
Here is Washington State, anything over 65 degrees is considered warm & toasty and summer usually starts in May sometime. But, it's been on of "those" years - cold, wet, and dreary and we are already at the end of June!
We are trying to be patient and wait -- wait for the temperatures to warm up so that we can hang out at Grandma's pool. That is our absolute FAVORITE summertime activity. This year we haven't been there even once this year --- but we remember last year!

Here's hoping that we can get back in the pool really quick --- I just love all the laughter and smiles that happen there!
Products Used:
#1041 - Umbrella Stripes and Tiles
#1040 - Defining Swimming
#1300 - Pigs
