Ninja!
How many of your children think that Halloween is all about the costumes and not about the candy? My Lily is all about the costume each year. She has always had a strong opinion on what she wants to be on Halloween. We have taken my prom gowns and made her a devil & Glinda, we have taken tulle and made her a cool vamipress skirt. Last year she decided she wanted to be two different things! This hectic Mom thought she was crazy since the first costume she decided on was Glinda As you can see in the picture below I had to primp up an 1980's prom gown, make a wand from wood, and the grown from mesh wire & duct tape. Where was I fitting in time for her to be a Ninja, too?
Well, she made the costume on her own. Raided her own wardrobe (suspenders, too) and went digging in the ski bag for for the ski hat and under armour shirt so she could go all NINJA! Pretty ingenious if you ask me!
The backsides of the papers in the "Sports and Activities" line are pretty fantastic! I was able to pull out what I consider "Halloween" colored patterned papers and use them for this layout. I distressed the papers, including the banner, with my scissors.
I also added some Helmar ZapDots to the banner to give it some height. Such little touches add depth to layouts.

Basketball paper (orange & black) #1410
Golf paper (green dotted) #1416

Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween...a little early
We decided it would be fun to create something with either a fall or Halloween theme. I found this cute little tray at Michael's and decided it would make the perfect place for a mini-page decoration. The inside of the tray is 12 by 4.5 making it the perfect size for a mini-page. It was already decorated with the rhinestones, again making it the perfect backdrop for my page. Here is what I came up with....
The side B patterns were perfect for creating this Halloween layout. I just love the black chevron pattern on the back of the Volleyball paper and the orange & black stripes of the Basketball papers. It just screams Halloween to me.
Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Are you scared?
Does the thought of using sports themed papers for a Halloween layout scare you? Do you shake in your boots at the idea of making "something" work? Well fear no more, my friends! I created this adorable Halloween layout using three of our papers and you can too!! I started with some fun photos I took last Halloween in our front graveyard-errr..yard...under our big tree...these children are my youngest daughter and her best friend all ready to go trick or treating. My daughter was a little freaked out about her friend's Werewolf costume, I just love how the photos turned out with the Hipstamatic app.

"School is Cool" #1358 Second Grade
"School is Cool" #1362 Freshman
The chevron background of my layout is the "B" side of the new Sports and Activities Volleyball paper and I used the School is Cool Second Grade paper for the orange stars. My bats are from the School is Cool Freshman paper (a black on black polka dot)...I added my own chipboard tree (misted with the new Heidi Swapp color mists) and my little quote card that says "clothes make a statement- costumes tell a story". I
stamped the Oct 31 on cardstock and created a little accent with a circle of the Second Grade Paper and some more bats...and there you have it! A great Halloween page with sports themed papers- who would have thought it!!"Sports and Activites" #1429 Volleyball

Boo!
I know, it's still way to early to be thinking about the holidays, but really Halloween is just 41 days away! The boys started talking today about costumes and such and it got me thinking. With a little bit of time on my hands today, I decided to start planning ahead --- well, at least a little bit. I went through all my fun Scrappin' Sports & More scraps and pulled out all the colors that reminded me of Halloween. These are the papers I used:
School is Cool - #1358 - 2nd Grade
School is Cool - #1359 - 3rd/4th Grades
Title Sports - #1384 - Wrestling
Title Sports - #1375 - Hockey
Title Sports - #1370 - Cross Country
Down on the Farm - #1291 - Cats
Family & More - #1275 - Cousins
Family & More - #1276 - Niece
Here is what I created with my scraps:
I am 2 cards closer to being ready for the holidays!

More "Punkin" Carving!
My daughter always likes to put silly faces on her "punkin," while my son usually goes for the scary look. This year was no exception and she was very, very happy with how her "punkin" came out. Scrappin' Sports & More's October paper was perfect for scrapping her "punkin" carving adventure. She calls herself a "punkin artist!"
