An invitation...

to have some fun with your scraps!! I love to go through my scraps from time to time just to challenge myself and see what I can create. So many times I come across papers that I had forgotten I still had and my mojo is kicked into high gear!

So here is a party invitation that I came up with using my scraps...
This was just a reminder of how many different colors and patterns of paper there are in the Scrappin Sports & More lines!!

What will you do with your scraps?

Which Sport?

Last week I created "What Sport Will You Play?" during my Helmar Live Ustream class.
I made sure it was full of the great sports papers from the "Title Sports" line.

My grandson, Chase, is going to be an athlete!  He has a natural attraction to any sports ball and running.  It just makes me wonder what sports he will play when he is old enough to make a choice.
My bets are on soccer and baseball!

Baseball paper (#1367)
Soccer paper ((#1379)

Welcome Guest Designer Julie Rainbolt

It's another new month and that means we get to showcase another Fabulous Guest Designer.  Please welcome Julie Rainbolt.  Before I showcase Julie's work, lets get to know her a little better.

I’m a 30+ something mom to a beautiful daughter who is married and currently away in basic training for the Army and I also have twin sons that are 19 and one is leaving shortly for the navy to be a pilot. I also have a son who is Ten who is very active in travel hockey, and I have been married to the most amazing man for almost 14 years. We make our home in Illinois where we get to enjoy 4 beautiful seasons! I am a work at home mom, and would not have it any other way. I’ve been scrapbooking for over 15 years but have only become passionate about it in the couple of years.

Scrapbooking gives me a creative outlet to keep me focused and help me relax. When asked to describe my style it is always hard to pin down one style for me. My style is always changing depending on what papers I use or what pictures I am working with. I am one that is not afraid to try new techniques and supplies. I love creating paper crafts that have dimension. Before scrapbooking, I never would have considered myself to be crafty. I am very excited to have been given the opportunity to Guest Design for Scrappin Sports and More.

And now, a little of her work :)  I know it can sometimes be difficult to scrap those team photos, but Julie did a fantastic job on this basketball layout.  I love how she has backed everything in black, making it really pop off of the page.  And the placement of the basketballs really adds a lot of movement.

Welcome Guest Designer Lisa Moen!!

I am excited to introduce SS&M guest designer for the month of May.  I'm sure you will be just as inspired and I have been with her work.  First though, a little about Lisa :)

Hi, my name is Lisa Moen and I am so excited to be a guest designer here at Scrappin' Sports & More! I have been scrapping for a little over 15 years now and I enjoy it more now than I did back then, if that's possible. My husband, Greg and I live in Wisconsin and have 2 children, Sierra, 14 and Austin, 12. We also have a very rambunctious yellow lab named Bender. My kids enjoy playing baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball and my DD surprised me this year and is out for track!

I have really enjoyed playing with the Scrappin' Sports & More product and are so grateful they gave me this opportunity!

And now, Lisa's first creation for us :)

I love all the movement that Lisa created by the little stars and the balls!  Just wait to you see her next project :)

Not Her Sport

Ever have your child play a sport and after the season ends he/she tells you they didn't really enjoy it?  That is what happened after Lily played basketball.  She had skills, she was fast, she got a lot of play time.  Every season since a coach has invited her to play and she kindly turns them down.

You make me so proud!

I have been so proud of my son this year.  He has tried 2 sports that are totally new to him, cross country and basketball.  Cross country for a sprinter is a big undertaking, but he stuck with it and had some really good times.  While he may not have the best shot yet in basketball, he is tall and has done a wonderful job rebounding.  Of course, Scrappin Sports & More new papers were perfect to capture both of these sports.

Tee Ball Mini Album!!

Anyone who knows me will hit the floor when I announce that I MADE A MINI ALBUM!  There are those that never thought they'd see the day!  But, I did it and I almost dare to say that I am hooked!  I saw the cutest chipboard album that was in the shape of a baseball cap at a local scrapbook store's going out of business sale. ( So sad to see another LSS close... ) When I saw the album, it screamed "Scrappin' Sports and More" at me!  So, I printed out the photos of my son's tee ball season, covered the pages mostly with the new "Sports Head On" papers, added some Scrappin' Sports and More Cardstock Stickers, added a few captions and a little bit-o-journaling and BAM- I actually did it!  So, here you go!

Shootin' Hoops

On our recent vacation to Arkansas, our cousins had a trampoline with a basketball hoop.  This was a crowd favorite for my kids...and when I was taking pictures (because that is just what I do every second of their lives) it suddenly occurred to me how very perfect this new paper would be with this particuliar shot.  The Sports Head On Line brings the pattern down the middle...perfect for bringing photos like this to life!!  Add some real-life basketball cardstock stickers and pop dots and the page really comes to life!!

Project 12 March Sketch...my turn!

Back from my messy scraproom to show you my take on the Project 12 March Sketch!  March was a fun month for us...Dr. Seuss' Birthday, my daughter's 14th birthday, St. Patrick's Day...but most of all...we enjoyed a family night at a basketball game.  March madness at it's finests!  So I really wanted to highlight that for the month.  And with so many choices for Basketball papers and embellishments, I really couldn't go wrong, could I?

Coaches vs. Cancer

Yesterday, our local high school basketball coach asked me to come out to the gym to take a team picture. The pictures I shot inspired this layout. The new "On The Edge Sports" basketball paper was a perfect choice.

Coaches vs. Cancer is something that started at the collegiate level to raise money and awareness in the fight against cancer. In Iowa, the state high school athletic agencies have encouraged local school districts to join this battle. Our student body, our school family, was dramatically touched by the ravages of this disease just last March when our long time high school principal lost his battle with brain cancer. That’s Mr. Cosens, or Cuz, as he was known around town in the upper left hand picture.

In an effort to raise money for Coaches vs. Cancer, the basketball team designed and sold these shirts.... the pink ribbon symbolizing breast cancer, the gray shirt symbolizing brain cancer. We’ll all be wearing our shirts at Friday night’s basketball game. Here's to Cuz and everyone else whose lives have been affected by this disease.

And Last, but Not Least....Carolyn Lontin

My name is Carolyn Lontin. I have been married to Rick since January 1997; we have one son, Seth and two crazy dogs! We live in gorgeous Colorado, in a suburb just south of Denver. We are less than 20 minute drive to the mountains and love to go there often! I began scrapping in October 2001 to preserve my son's childhood memories and it quickly became an obesession! I love capturing my family's "real" moments both in my photos and in my journaling on my layouts and projects. I have found the creative outlet of scrapping to be incredibly relaxing and quite addictive, which is shocking to the previously dominate non-artistic side of me! Over the past few years, I have had the honor of having my work published in major publications! Since April 1994, I have been a Human Resource Director for a manufacturing company. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends, photography, exercising, cheering on my son's many sports teams, mini-adventures exploring in the mountains, playing with our dogs, and reading. I absolutely love being a part of the Scrappin' Sports & More Design Team, it's a dream come true for me!

And now for some layouts....First up is Catcher

Journaling:
Your biggest adjustment in football was the equipment - so imagine our concern when your coach, Casey Bettis asked you to play catcher. Of course, you agreed to try it. You not only loved it but you were awesome! You impressed everyone when you caught pop-flys in nearly every game your first season. Now as we start your third season of baseball, we are no longer worried about the equipment, we love watching our catcher.
