Which Sport?

Last week I created "What Sport Will You Play?" during my Helmar Live Ustream class.
I made sure it was full of the great sports papers from the "Title Sports" line.

My grandson, Chase, is going to be an athlete!  He has a natural attraction to any sports ball and running.  It just makes me wonder what sports he will play when he is old enough to make a choice.
My bets are on soccer and baseball!

"Title Sports" Supplies:
Football paper (#1372)
Baseball paper (#1367)
Soccer paper ((#1379)
Hockey paper (#1375)
Golf paper (#1373)
Basketball paper (#1368)
Cardstock Stickers:
Baseball (#5544)
Basketball (#5550)
Soccer ((#5530)

be Bold.

Ahhh, that son of mine is full of personality and he isn't afraid to express it!  Last week before his baseball game, he swapped out his baseball cleats shoe laces for his running shoes shoe laces - yes neon pink and neon green!  I just love that he is so sure of himself!

#5 Hey batter batter ...

Around here an athlete's number is such a big part of them but when we play fall baseball they hand out t-shirts with the numbers 1-11 and you get what you get.  Last year was my son's first time ever playing a sport without his beloved #55 on his jersey ... but the #3 came and went in a blink of an eye.  This fall he is sporting the #5 on his baseball t-shirt.  The #5 is better for two reasons - it is the number worn by the Rockies Carlos Gonzales and because people tease my son about losing one of his 5's! :)

How fast can you pitch?

The last time we were at the Rockies baseball game, my son wanted to test his pitching arm strength to see how fast he can pitch - I think 51 & 53 mph is pretty good for an 11 year old (and much harder & more accurate than I could throw! :) )

2 Great Baseball Layouts by Guest Designer Lana Day!

I am excited to share 2 wonderful baseball layouts created by this months guest designer Lana Day.  I love how she cut up the baseball paper to use as her accents.  The red white and blue stripes are a perfect backdrop for these pictures.

I love how she cut up the paper on this layout to add some fun movement to the page.

New Baseball Paper!

Here is another layout featuring SSM's latest line - Sports and Activities!

I used the words on the baseball paper to create a title, I lined my photos to be framed on both the left side and the bottom by the word "catcher" - how easy and fun is that! :)

Meet our Wonderful Guest Designer for July, Suzanna Lee

I am very exicted to share with you today a layout created by our fantastic July guest designer Suzanna Lee.  Let's get to know Suzanna a little bit better first!

Hey! I am Suzanna Lee, wife to Michael and Mummy to Nikolas and Mia. These 3 are not only my life but the subjects all things crafty. Scrapbooking is not only my creative outlet but a means to preserving my insanity (and memories)! Equally important to me is the photography. I spend as much time with my Nikon as I do at my scrappy desk. When not with my family or scrapbooking, I work part time as a Physical Therapist. Somebody has to support this addiction! LOL!! I am honored to be the guest designer  here at Scrappin' Sports and More this month and can't wait to share my work with you! More of my work can be found on my blog http://www.lifestrivialities.typepad.com/

And now, it's time to reveal a layout created by Suzanna that I'm sure you will enjoy!  With the 4th of July just a couple of days, I thought I would share her patriotic baseball layout first!  I love how she mixed so many Scrappin' Sports lines to created this layout!

Here is a close up of her title work!
Make sure you check back with us later this month to see more wonderful designs by Suzanna!

Scrappin' Cards

I love using my left over scraps of SS&M papers for cards.  Quite often I am creating a card on the fly. That so many of the SS&M lines have complimenting color schemes makes it so easy to pull together a nice card quickly.

My first card is chocked full of baseball goodness.  Scott & his Dad are big Red Sox fans so the red, white and blue color scheme is perfect for them.  I made this card as a Father's Day Card for my FIL, but really, it could just as easily been given for a birthday card.

I did a little bit of distressing on the edges of the paper and crinkled the Dymo "happy" for a bit of depth.  The star is die cut using my Sizzix star dies and some corrugated cardboard.

Supplies:
Name Of The Game
Baseballs paper (#1255)
Girls Rule
Gymnastics paper (#1391)

"Hugs & Kisses" is filled with scraps from the "Title Sports" line.  I am putting it away for when Lily goes away to soccer camp this summer.  It will be her first time going to overnight camp and I want her to know that we are missing her while she is gone.

Supplies:
Title Sports
Cross Country paper (#1370)
Tennis paper  (#1381)
Homecoming paper (#1376)
Girls Rule
Homecoming/Prom paper (#1392)
Sporty Words
Volleyball paper (#1407)

We would love to see what you make for cards using SS&M papers.  Feel free to share on the Scrappin' Sports & More Facebook Page

On deck layout

I have another baseball layout to share! :)  We just spent the weekend in Steamboat Springs, CO at a pretty big baseball tournament - it's so much fun to go up there to play and lots of team bonding going on!  I am torn with love and hate when my son is on deck with two outs, but I love when he is on deck with his catchers gear on, so naturally I had to snap some pics of it this weekend!

Just One of The Guys

Hey there, everyone!  I hope you are enjoying a beautiful summer day!

For today's project, I was determined to use a photo that I'd already printed and just "had" to scrap, but hadn't got to it yet.  I found the perfect one that was just begging for some SS&M papers to go with!

Unfortunately, my son was not able to play Little League, so we were on the lookout for an opportunity for him to continue his love and participation in baseball.  And, the perfect opportunity presented itself when Colby was able to be the Bat Boy for the 7th Grade baseball team at the school that I teach at.  The boys had been playing together since they were Colby's age, but took him in as though he'd been on the team all along.  In the first practice that Colby went to, they boys were introduced to him and then started running laps.  As they ran off, one of them turned around and said, Colby, are you coming?!"  And, that's how it started!

The season continued and they taught him everything we need to know to be a part of the team-- what to do a bat boy, how (and when) to cheer for his teammates and, most importantly, how to spit sunflower seeds!  I was so proud of my son AND my students for being a great team!

Enough yapping..... here's my layout!  It's simple, because I wanted to focus to be on this fabulous picture of Colby on the bench with his team.

And, here's a close up:
(you may notice that there's no black line in the close up... I decided to add it after I took the first round of photos... it just needed "something else" and I forgot to take a closeup shot!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you were inspired!

~Nicole

Hey Batter by Julie

I know many of my friends are right in the middle of baseball season, so I am very happy to showcase this wonderful layout created by our June guest designer Julie Rainbolt.  Julie has a very distinct style and loves to outline her papers and embellishments with black cardstock.  I think on this layout it really makes the individual papers stand out.  Look at that adorable smile :)

Take me out to the ballgame...

My girls love to go to the Dodger games.  It doesn't matter that we usually sit in nosebleed seats...they just LOVE the experience of it all.  Most of the time they go with my husband and his father and neither one of them carry a camera other than their cell phones so this is the kind of photo I get texted to me and am expected to scrap with...maybe you experience the same thing??  I still find these blurry photos "scrap worthy" though..and this one was no exception.

I used the Title Sports Baseball and Gymnastics papers for this layout and kept it pretty simple...I just love that I've documented this special memory despite the blurry photo and the Scrappin Sports papers were a perfect fit for my layout!  Hope you make some time to enjoy a baseball game this summer!

Game Day layout

One of the great things about SSM papers is that you can mix and match the different lines with their custom papers!   I really like how the words on the custom paper highlight this photo of my son during fall baseball last year.  I love when layouts seem to fall together all by themselves especially when using all scraps (with the exception of the custom paper of course :) )

Fundraising!

We are knee deep in baseball fundraising for spring and summer tournaments!  This past weekend we had a raffle drawing for lots of fantastic prizes!  I decided to use some SSM papers in my Silhouette Cameo to make goodie bags - SSM's papers worked like a charm in the Cameo and it was even better that they were double sided!
