The Wild, Wild West

We recently spent a week in sunny Arizona - what a welcome and warm relief from the cold of a midwest winter!  While there we spent time sightseeing in Tombstone and a day at Old Tucson Studios.  Spending time at these places brought back memories from my childhood, spending time with my dad - a guy that loved watching "shoot 'em up" westerns on tv.  It was fun to see where old episodes of Bonanzo were filmed as well as movies like Rio Bravo and McClintock.

Spring Practice

I'm still loving playing with all the new styles of papers that SS&M debuted last month at CHA.  I've been wanting to use the title from a favorite Kenny Chesney song for a while now.  When I saw the new papers, I knew it was the right time to do a layout of our Boys of Fall.

Happy Birthday Toby

Our family dog recently celebrated his 16th birthday!  I will have to admit parenting a teenage dog is a lot like parenting teenage children. Both want to be independent, but both still need their mama!  Today I'm sharing a few photos taken of Toby this fall.

When SS&M first came out with their Down on the Farm line last year I knew this dog paper would be getting a lot of use in my house.  With it's brown and cream tones and the coordinating solid on the back side and the coordinating stickers... well, perfect for Toby pictures!

Thanks for looking.

Unwrapping Gifts

Here's my take on the sketch on this month's sketch.

I love that this sketch has such clean lines.  I loved being able to use a variety of papers.  I love incorporating journaling strips (I came to this conclusion while putting this layout together - you may be seeing this technique utilized a lot more in the future).  I love how this layout came together.  I hope you like it too.

I knew this sketch would be perfect for pairing together the December calendar paper along with some custom varied spirit names paper with December printed in red and green!  A wonderful combination for holiday photos.

Fit by 50

After all these years I've come to the realization that I need to get in shape.  So, I started walking..... 10,000 steps a day is the goal.  To help document my journey from fat to fit, I'm using the newest sports line from SS&M, Sports Head On . As I was trying to decide what paper to use for this layout those shoes just jumped out at me and I knew the Cross Country paper would be perfect!

Playing Catch-Up

I've been trying to catch up on all of my sports photos this fall and this is one that I absolutely had to scrap!  Over Labor Day, our 2006 softball team had a reunion.  They were one of the most fun teams, I ever had the pleasure to coach.  Every time I look at this photo I'm reminded of how much fun they had playing together during high school and how the fun continued this day as they got together on a field once again.

Whether you are current or continually playing catch-up like I do, I hope whenever you look at your scrapbook pages they make you smile as much as this one makes me (of course, using paper from SS&M makes me smile too)!

Are you ready for some football?

Gosh, that is a common question in our house in the fall.  My son has been strappin' on the pads and pullin' on the uniform every weekend in the fall since he was in 7th grade.  He's now a junior in college I can't count how many weekends we've spent in the bleachers cheering him on from those early days as he was learning to play, to his senior year in high school as the team made a run toward a state championship and now during his college career.  So to answer that question.... why YES!  We are ready for some football in this house.

It's Feeling Like Fall

As much as I hate to see summer go, I am looking forward to the cooler evenings and beautiful colors of fall in the midwest.

Today I'm sharing a layout using the September Calendars Made Easy paper and September Cardstock Sticker that coordinates with the paper.  I was able to snap some pictures of my cousin's grandson not long ago and I love how this paper is a perfect compliment!

The Good List

As crafters we know it's never too soon to start planning for the holidays.  A few years ago I started making calendars for my parents as part of their Christmas gift.  Well, one year I didn't get it done in time and what's the first thing my dad said after opening gifts?  Yep, you guessed it "Where's my calendar?"  That was the last time I was ever late with it!  The Calendars Made Easy line from SS&M is helping me get this year's calendar done with plenty of time to spare.  Here's the page for December:

Let SS&M help you out with those Christmas gifts for family and friends!

T-Ball Fun

My twin great-nephews are in their 2nd season playing little league T-Ball.  During their last game of the season earlier this summer I got to snap a couple of pictures of them.  It was so much fun seeing the intensity in their faces and I knew they were having so much fun.  They are both such baseball fanatics and want to play catch or hit the ball around in the backyard every free moment.  I just love these 2 little guys.

This layout is based on a sketch by Susan Stringfellow (Sketch Savvy).  As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew it would be perfect to use with SS&M's newest sports line, Sports Head On!

Sports Head On

From hitting The K-Zone to Being a Leader on the field, our new Sports Head On line of papers will be a hit when it comes to scrapping all of your sports related pictures.

In both of these examples I used the sports ball design on the front side of the papers as primary accents on my pages while using the reverse side of the papers to add  a look of texture and dimension.  I love double sided paper and you are going to love this new line of papers.

Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

And I think these girls are absolutely beautiful (as you can tell my the titles in both layouts).

What else is beautiful?  Why, the papers I got to use on these layouts!  SS&M is debuting 2 new lines at CHA in Chicago.  The first is "Calendars Made Easy", a line of papers and cardstock stickers for each month of the year, and the line I'm highlighting in this post.  I used the February, June and August papers along with the June cardstock sticker in this layout of my niece, great-niece and daughter.

In this 2nd layout, Beautiful Daughter, I used the May and June papers along with the watersports paper from the "Sports Head On" line of papers also debuting at CHA.  I absolutely love the blue and gold tones of these papers.

I know you'll love these beautiful new lines as much as our design team members have.  You'll be absolutely blown away by the designs they've creating and will be sharing with you all in the days ahead.

What an Adventure!

The Custom Flourish #1 paper design was an instant favorite and a perfect paper for scrapping a recent trip we made to Universal Studios in Orlando.  Being able to use bright fun colors like teal and lime green against the red and black background of this paper really helps convey the fun we had that day at the amusement park.

So Happy Together

My husband and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary.  I can't tell you how exctited I was about being able to design my very own custom paper to help record this milestone event.  Not only was I able to incorporate our wedding colors in the paper, but I was also able to include our names on the paper.

Frolicking in the Sun

My dog loves to play and frolick around in the backyard, especially in the summer when the grass is lush, green and soft.  The summer paper from the Young & Active Seasons line were a perfect choice for displaying Toby's playfulness in the summer sun.

They Call Me Mom

With Mother's Day right around the corner, I had thought about doing a layout about my own mother as well as one about myself.  But, since my kids are so much more photogenic than either my mom or myself... well, once again they became the focus of yet another one of my scrapbook pages.  This is a photo that was taken over the holidays and remains one of my favorites of them.

When those special family moments occur make sure to reach for Scrappin' Sports and More's Family line of papers to preserve those memories.  I used the Mother/Mom paper on this layout incorporating the word Mom (that's already printed on the paper) into my title - quick, easy and looks great!

Project 12 - Spring Break

Here's my layout for the March Project 12 sketch.  Hope you like it!  I focused on just one week of the month of March, the week we spent in Florida with our daughter watching her pitch for her college softball team.

Journaling reads:  "When March finally rolled around, we were ready.  The last few months had taken a toll - record snowfall, cold temps and gray skies..... FLORIDA here we come!
Micah was going to Orland with the Coe College softball team.  Leo and I were going too.  Gosh, a week in the sunny south sure would be a welcome change from the snowy tundra of Iowa.
Landing in Orlando with the sun shinning and blue skies - had we died and gone to heaven?  I think so.   We had a great time  (even though it rained the last couple of days of our trip).  Most of our time was spent at the softball field but we did get to spend a day full of fun at Universal Studios."

I loved using the teal colors in the Umbrella Stripes and Tiles paper - a perfect match with the shirt that my daughtere was wearing a couple of the pictures and with the shades of red to accent, the perfect 1-2 combination!  I'm loving doing these Project 12 sketches.

Ok, now it's my turn to show my little scrappin' haven.  It's very compact, but it's also in the heart of our home so I can always be in the action!

I work at the table, I store most of my paper in a drawer of the desk, most of my supplies are kept either in my XXL tote or my 3 drawer iris cart by the computer.  My favorite albums are stored on the self of the couch table along with layouts waiting to be put into albums.  On the easel stand is where I display favorite layouts (and sometimes in progress layouts that I need to think on for a while).

My most used smaller supplies, pens, inks, rub-on letters, scissors, etc. are on the corner of the table, always within easy reach, along with my "scraps" trash can a friend gave me.

And last, but not least, my constant scrappin' companion, Toby.  He's usually laying on his blanket at my feet while I'm creating but today while I was taking these photos he just couldn't resist mugging for the camera.  He thinks he's a scrapper too (I'm not going to tell him he's just a dog).

Thanks for taking the time to look at my scrap space.  I know it's small.  I know I don't offer any great storage solutions, but I hope it helps show that whatever your space, wherever you scrap, if you're comfortable and it brings you joy that's all you need.
