Super Bowl Champs!

About a week ago, my son's football team finished up another undefeated season including a Super Bowl win!   My layout features several great SSM lines, which I always love to mix & match!

This is my last post for SSM - I want to thank everyone at SSM for having me as part of their team these last few years, I have truly enjoyed being a part of this amazing family!!  I also want to thank SSM's fans and followers for making SSM such a success and if you were local to SSM, I hope you stocked up on goodies at their warehouse sale!

Scrolling through my blog posts here at SSM, I couldn't pick just a few favorites as so many important moments for my family are here on this blog - so if you have some time you can check out my SSM projects from the past few years. :)

First NFL game

Today my post is featuring my son Alex's first NFL football game.  He was lucky enough to get to see his Dallas Cowboys beat the Carolina Panthers earlier this year.  It was an amazing day for both Alex and Mark.  I found this sketch posted on Pinterest and knew it would be perfect for this layout.

Here is the layout I came up with using the sketch.

The Cowboys paper was a custom paper that I had made a couple of years ago and was just waiting for the perfect layout to use it on.

Have a wonderful week!!

Football Play Off Time!

During the first grade, my son's football team started a tradition of getting mohawks when they made it to the play offs!  This year my son decided to go all out by adding his number and his team's W logo - I thought it turned out pretty cool!

I added some of SSM's backside patterns in my son's football team colors - black & red and I included a star for each year my son has played football and each year they made it to the play offs - so far six for six! :)

Football

When I got Alex's 8th grade professional football picture, I couldn't believe how old and muscular he looked!  When did my little boy grow up into a young man!!  I layered lots of Scrappin' Sports & More papers & stickers to create this bright fun layout.  I love that the focus is still Alex and the mountains in the background.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Football MVP

During a 2-week pre-season football camp my son received a certificate of recognition from the coaches at the camp - he was beyond thrilled to be honored and we are beyond proud!

His award was for "COACHES AWARD FOR RESPECT TOUGHNESS".   He has always played extremely tough so it was great he was recognized for it and hopefully it encourages him to keep playing tough!

Atta Boy!

Asst. Coach Kevin Staton of Princeton Youth Football gives Zach Daniel an big Atta Boy! for catching a tough long pass against defenders and running it into the end zone. This proud mom wanted to thank each volunteer coach with a nice "cover page" to their custom PYFL albums I made. They have been uplifting, tough, and pushing my kid to be a rock star this season.

In the layout below, I (Lynette) decorated "tags" of the new "Sports & Activities" paper and embellished with May Arts chocolate silk ribbons. Special effects are made with metallic watercolors, chalks, and an opaque white marker to create what I call a "comfortable but formal grunge" style.

Thanks for looking, and appreciate any comments!

Sportsmanship layout

I love to catch my son in acts of kindness during his games - here I snapped a photo of my son assisting the referee fix an athlete's equipment on the opposing team.   I worked one of my favorite quotes into my journaling "sports do not build character, they reveal it" and I am proud of my son's character!

Which Sport?

Last week I created "What Sport Will You Play?" during my Helmar Live Ustream class.
I made sure it was full of the great sports papers from the "Title Sports" line.

My grandson, Chase, is going to be an athlete!  He has a natural attraction to any sports ball and running.  It just makes me wonder what sports he will play when he is old enough to make a choice.
My bets are on soccer and baseball!

"Title Sports" Supplies:
Football paper (#1372)
Baseball paper (#1367)
Soccer paper ((#1379)
Hockey paper (#1375)
Golf paper (#1373)
Basketball paper (#1368)
Cardstock Stickers:
Baseball (#5544)
Basketball (#5550)
Soccer ((#5530)

10 Years of Football

Happy Monday everyone!!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  I am so excited to share this post with you today.  I had so much fun looking back at the past 10 years and remembering all the fun I have had watching Alex play football.  It all started when he was 4 years old and got his first Dallas Cowboys outfit.  I just love that photo of him all geared up on Christmas.

This is the first 2 page spread I have done in awhile and I am really excited about it.  I just love how all the Scrappin' Sports & More papers work together.  I used two lines of the football papers and combined it with some of the side B papers from other lines to add some color.  A few buttons, chipboard letters, stickers and twine and the layout came together better than I envisioned.  I hope you like it!

Here is the two page spread.

And here are the pages separate so you can see more of the details.

I Feel Like A Pro!

Hey Football Fans! It's Lynette Daniel the newest Design Team Member and since we are in the "throws" of the fall season and I wanted to make a bold graphic statement to replicate my son Zach's cool wide receiver gloves. When his hands are together it spells NIKE. To make this monochromatic layout, I started with a textured piece of white cardstock and hand painted the black burst. Then cut a neutral overlay of medium gray cardstock for the spiked effect. Next, I hand cut the PRO title with an Excel Hobby Blade and used black Stickles to make it shine. The clear football shape is hard to see in the scan but I hand cut the P logo for the Princeton Tigers and glued it on the helmet. Please give me your feedback on how you are "receiving" my new designs!

Football Season

For my husband, Football Season is the happiest season of the year.  No matter the weather, no matter the team, he is happiest if he's watching football.  And while usually, he's playing armchair quarterback, occasionally, he gets the opportunity to go see a "real game".  Two weeks ago, he was invited to go see a BYU preseason game and he jumped at the opportunity.  Never mind that we live in Southern California...lol and usually BYU is playing the team we usually root for... he made a special business trip to visit a client in Utah just so he could also attend the game.  And while he was there, he happily texted me photos of himself and the stadium so that I could scrap this memory for him.

I added the pocket to the page so that he can save his ticket in there and journal on the tags about his experience at his first "home" BYU game...it's a great way to save memorabilia without creating an element on the page with it. I fussy cut the title from the "Title Sports" paper and added pop dotted footballs inside the "o"s for a little dimension.  I chose to keep the rest of the page pretty simple because all of the patterned paper really kept the eye moving on the page.  Hope he likes the page and it is a nice reminder of his quick trip to Utah!

Please welcome Lynette Daniel, the newest SS&M Designer!!!

Scrappin' Sports & More is very excited to announce our newest designer to the team Lynette Daniel.  She was our first Guest Designer and we loved her work so much we couldn't wait to ask her to stay on full time.  She said YES!!!

For those of you who may not know Lynette, here is a little about our newest designer.

Lynette Daniel is a widow and has two beautiful children. She owns Scrap That Moment, Central Illinois' largest scrapbooking store. She is a talented photographer, graphic designer and has been a nationally published scrapper since 2003. Lynette has had the privilege of working with over 20 scrapbooking manufacturers and is thrilled to design for Scrappin' Sports & More. In Lynette's spare time she coaches in city programs for kids, sponsors local sports teams, and photographs and writes editorials for different IL newspapers.

Here is Lynette's debut design called "Go Long."

#1415 Football

Lynette hand drew and painted the tiger paw onto the new Sports & Activities Football paper. We love the way she worked her son Zach's team colors of grey & blue into the collage. You are not going to believe how Lynette made the flowers- it is sports athletic gauze tape! She fashioned it in and around itself and used a little distress ink to match the tough grunge background.

I am sure you will be as thrilled as we are to have her part of the SS&M family.  Her designs are fresh and very creative.

Welcome again, Lynette!!!

Riddell {football} Helmet

My son's football helmet had to be sent back to Schutt so he is currently using a different brand, Riddell, for the first time - so naturally I had to record his loaner helmet. :)

Love of the game ...

I love after-the-game photos of my son's sports teams.  These were taken at the end of their regular season last year, where they finished with an 8-0 record!  Such an exciting time for them!

I absolutely love SSM's new Sports & Activities papers - the brown and green color combo on the football paper is awesome!  And who knew I could mix it with red and black! :)

Patriots Lucky Charm

We are big Patriots fans in our house.  Each week they play, DH was insistant that Chase be there.  He kept saying that Chase was their lucky charm. Not sure that is accurate, but it sure was cute.  During a SuperBowl break I took some pics of Scott and Chase in their Pats attire.

I finally used some of my Scrappin' Sports & More football stash.  I love the browns of the "Title Sports" Football Paper (#1372) and the Football Cardstock Sticker  (#5549) was a perfect accent. I used the front and back of the "School Is Cool" Fifth/Sixth Grade (#1360) Paper because the red and blue are perfect Pats colors!

For the Love of the Game layout by Carolyn Lontin

I love the Sports on Fire line by SSM especially when you mix it with a little bit of the Reflections paper, some stars from the Title Sports line and of course a layout just isn't complete without at least one card stock sticker! :)

Tonight we had a  baseball game near our home football field - makes me really look forward to another football season this fall - even the hot sweaty dog days of summer tournaments in late August to prepare the boys for another exciting season!

Football by Jill

I really Love this picture that Jill took; really looks like the ball is coming right at you!!  Jill has done an amazing job showing how you can cut down the 12 x 12 Football Title Sports paper and make it fit perfectly for the 8 1/2 by 11 layout.  The addition of the blue stars from the gymnastics paper adds just enough pop of color to really highlight the title letters.
