New Papers = New FUN!!!

It's always so exciting to open a package of new papers...ahh..I even love the smell of them! (please tell me I'm not alone, here!)  I just love the new "Sports and Activities" line..it's SO cute...and like Shannon, I was inspired first by the Softball Papers.

I chose to use both sides for my layout, and added the backside of the Workout paper for the red polkadots and some whimsy.  I used the older Sports Head On Racing paper as the background as to me, it looks like the softball fence! I also used some of the Baseball Cardstock stickers as background to my title and the banner. I love how all the lines work so well together!!

The new line has arrived!!

There's nothing more satisfying than getting a box of scrapbook paper in the mail. When I got mine...filled with all the newly released paper from the Sports & Activities line...I immediately ran to my scraproom to play!!

Here is a layout I made with the softball paper. It works SO WELL with all the other softball papers that Scrappin Sports & More carry!!

Hey Batta Batta!!

The "Blue Cheeze" sure didn't stink!  The girls on this team made it all the way through playoffs for an impressive 1st place standing!  In this particular playoff game, my daughter scored a run which didn't happen all that much as she was typically "RBI girl" due to her fantastic "eye"...she was SO excited to score a run in this very important game!

Ready for some Softball?

Nothing makes me feel better when the weather gets cold than to scrap about warmer times! As I scrapped this page, I could think about the warm sun beaming down on my neck as I watched my daughter, Bailee, play.

The right and left page of this layout are the A and B sides of the new Sporty Words paper (plus an oldie, but a goodie). It is so nice when you can use both sides of the paper. By cutting out the word "softball", my title matched the colors on the left side perfectly, allowing for a cohesive 2 page layout!

Playing Catch-Up

I've been trying to catch up on all of my sports photos this fall and this is one that I absolutely had to scrap!  Over Labor Day, our 2006 softball team had a reunion.  They were one of the most fun teams, I ever had the pleasure to coach.  Every time I look at this photo I'm reminded of how much fun they had playing together during high school and how the fun continued this day as they got together on a field once again.

Whether you are current or continually playing catch-up like I do, I hope whenever you look at your scrapbook pages they make you smile as much as this one makes me (of course, using paper from SS&M makes me smile too)!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hi, All!  Happy Mother's Day!  This is my first blog post as a Designer for Scrappin' Sports & More and I am SUPER excited!  I made a layout to feature my  beautiful grandmother.  I live in Maine, and I, like many of us here, have French Canadian roots.  My Memere (pronounced mem-may) is the sweetest lady on earth and I feel so lucky to have her in my life and for my kids to be able to know her.  And, this summer she will celebrate her 30th birthday for the 61st time!!  Oh, and for those of you who may not speak French, "je t'aime" means "I love you!"

For Love of the Game

Bracket-ology, Diaper Dandies, conference tournaments and the NCAA basketball tournament all come to mind when sports fans think of March Madness. In our house we too think of the NCAA and tournament play but we are thinking more about the start of the college softball season. The season kicks off for our daughter and her teammates on Saturday.

This spring's pre-sason ratings have the team ranked 5th nationally. There are some big expectations on these kids. They are anxious to get started chasing after that D-III National title. The kids on this team truely are student-athletes. They don't receive athletic scholarships. They play

Journaling by Peggy Nardini

I'm a journaler. I like to journal. There's an old saying, "A picture is worth 1,000 words", well I like to use 'em all! So let's talk about ways to get creative with journaling and incorporate a couple of different ideas into your next layouts.

We've all seen examples of journaling written on strips of cardstock and then adhered to the page, typically along the side of a picture. A fun variation of this style is to use the strip under a row of photos as in this example from a recent layout, "Roommates". A second row of journaling could easily be added above the row of photos if you need more room.

This second layout shows images from the NCAA Regional Championship my daughter's college softball team won last spring. I've done a number of layouts about the tournament with quite lengthy journaling, so I've already written a lot about the experience, but still have some great photos to include on my scrapbook pages. Here, I made tabs to go along the sides of the pictures, including just a few words of journaling.

This final example is a more traditional style of journaling, the journal block. The plain, simple block containing your journaling is sometimes all you need to finish off a layout. In "Alley Cats", that's what I did. But don't be afraid to step it up a bit and add an additional design element (die cuts, stickers, rub-on, etc.) to your journal block. Here I included small black circles representing bowling balls to tie all of the elements together.

On your next layout, don't be afraid to write it all down! Include those words along with your photos. Whether you computer journal or use your own handwriting, the written word is important in telling the complete story. It's even more fun when you get creative with it and use the new lines of paper Scrappin' Sports and More will be debuting at CHA later this week. All of the layouts in this article used our newest sports line On The Edge Sports. You're gonna love it.

Next UP.....meet Peggy Nardini

Hi! My name is Peggy. I've been a member of the Scrappin' Sports and More design team since October 2008. Being a part of this team has been one of the most fun scrappin' things I've ever been involved in.

My husband and I live in central Iowa. We have 2 kids, twins, who are college-aged. Coming from a small town, our kids have had the opportunity to be involved in many sports and school related activities over the years. They have continued on with their athletic careers at the collegiate level, my son plays football and is an offensive lineman, my daughter is a pitcher for her college softball team. I spend a lot of time documenting their achievements and successes. The Scrappin' Sports and More products are a perfect match for this.

I love the variety of styles, colors and versatility, most of all the quality, of products offered by SS&M. I think you will too!

Now for some inspiration!!  First up is her daughter.
