Happy Halloween...a little early

We decided it would be fun to create something with either a fall or Halloween theme.  I found this cute little tray at Michael's and decided it would make the perfect place for a mini-page decoration.  The inside of the tray is 12 by 4.5 making it the perfect size for a mini-page.    It was already decorated with the rhinestones, again making it the perfect backdrop for my page.  Here is what I came up with....

The side B patterns were perfect for creating this Halloween layout.  I just love the black chevron pattern on the back of the Volleyball paper and the orange & black stripes of the Basketball papers.  It just screams Halloween to me.

The Big "C"!

Yep.... literally a BIG C!  I got a giant chipboard "C" a while back.  I was going to use it for something else, but didn't receive all of the letters I needed.  So, it went into my stash destined to stay there for a good long time.  In moving my piles of stuff back and forth, the big "C" ended up on top of my box of Scrappin' Sports goodies and I decided that my son needed a new sign for his bedroom door!  And, off I went!

His favorite color is red, so I started there.  There's a perfect RED dot paper included in the new "Sports & Activities" line!  I traced the "C" on the red paper and cut it out.

 

Then, I adhered the paper to the C, added a ribbon to the back, and put some alphas stickers from deep within my stash along the bottom.  Then, my son's favorite part.... I used some black embroidery floss and some cardstock stickers.  I put one with the sticky side up, placed the floss down, and then put another sticker on top creating a "sticker sandwich."  That way if the sports balls spin while he is opening and closing his door, they will still look good.  Then, I adhered the floss to the back of the "C" and trimmed the ends.  Finally, I took down the old sign and hung the new one.

I Pledge Allegiance...

Hey there, everyone!

Today's project was inspired by a card design that I saw on Pintrest.  What a wonderful place to find inspiration!  I used the basic design of the card that I saw and created a wall hanging.

First, I cut the side off of a cardboard box and trimmed it to the size I wanted.  Then I dug through my Scrappin' Sports stash to find just the right papers.  And, sure enough- I did!!  The Preschool and Kindergarten papers from the "School is Cool" collection are the perfect colors for this flag project!

Always in our Hearts

My mom wanted something to auction off at the family reunion and I knew the perfect thing to do.  I had pinned this wonderful inspiration piece from the Studio Calico blog.  My picture was not the best quality as it was taken many years ago and faded.  I scanned it in and printed it fairly small, therefore I choose to use an 8 in. by 8 in. frame.  I used the side B papers from a couple of the Scrappin' Sports lines and here is the result.  The butterflies are brads.

Altered "Gift" Can

I am a collector of all kinds of packaging, from boxes my photos arrive in to plastic containers my craft supplies come in to great bags from stores.  Any of these items can be spritzed up for gift giving!  Last week was one of my dearest friend's birthday and I need something special to package her gift.  I couldn't just wrap it in plain ol' paper.

I designed this altered mini-can (from some Prima flowers) around the "The Sport Is" Music Paper (#1346).  My friend is a love of music, so this was a perfect place to start. I also used the complimenting black/white striped Hockey Paper (#1375) from the "Title Sports" line.  Pops of pink were thrown in for a bit of contrast and femininity.

I even decorated the top of the can!  

A Bottle of Sunshine!

Have you ever wished you could send someone a bottle of sunshine?  Well, I have!  If you have a friend or family member who could use a little cheer, you can send a bottle to brighten their day!

First, I talked my husband into drinking some of the Starbuck's Frappacchino's from the grocery store.  Then, I ran the empty bottle through the dishwasher and cleaned off the label.  Then, I set to work creating SUNSHINE!  I picked out the yellow candy from some leftover Easter goodies.  Then, I covered the cap with some fun Tennis paper from the Girls Rule collection.  Then, I traced and cut a sun on to the same paper and adhered it to the front of the bottle.  Finally, I added a bow and VOILA!  A bottle of sunshine!

Leprechaun Dust

St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner!  

I made some Leprechaun Dust for some of my little friends.  

The Golf Paper (#1390) in the "Girls Rule" was just perfect 

green for decorating this little recycled drink container.

To make the shamrock, I just punched 3 hearts out of the back side of

 Golf paper and glued the edges together.  

To cover the top I cut out a cardboard circle and covered it

with the Golf paper.  Isn't it a cute way to make sure 

the Lebrechaun Dust doesn't spill?   

The Leprechaun Dust is a sugar and glitter mixture.

Have your children spread it on your lawn 

for Good Luck on St. Patrick's Day!

Take Note!

I am not sure about all of you, but I am always grabbing for a little notebook.  I always carry one in my purse for remembering little tidbits I when I am out and about; from family memories to great quotes to crafty ideas.   These notebooks whipped up in no time at all!

I am throwing the "Life Is Beatiful" notebook in my purse today.  I die-cut the flowers, spritzed them with mist, crinkled and layered them.  Love how well the "Title Sports" papers hold their shape to give the flowers great dimension.

The "Memory" notebook is a gift for a co-worker who just had a baby. It will accompany a memory jar to store all the little slips of memories about her newborn son.  The upside down banner was simply created by punching 6 circles out of the paper, layering the circles, & them cutting them in half.  Again, it added great dimension.

It's that time of year....

...when we crafty folks need to start thinking about, and creating, those homemade holiday gifts.  I stopped by the dollar store today for some candles (which I did NOT find...), but found some super cute glass jars.  I figured they would be perfect for altering into gifts!  For this one, I don't know what i'll put in it yet-- maybe those red and green M&M's, or maybe even a small candle (if I can find one!).  Either way, I think it came out really cute, and I think I know just who it's going to be a gift for!

Need a tissue?

With school coming to a close, I instantly start thinking about school supplies for next year so I can stock up for the summer.  Things that are always on the list...pencils, crayons...TISSUES!!  So why not create this cute tissue box cover?

Here's how...

Start with 2 sheets of 12x12 cardstock (I used white).  Cut the following dimensions:

2 - 9 1/2" x 5 1/8"

1-  6 9/16" square

Step 1:  Score the 2 pieces of 9 1/2" at 1/2" and 4 3/4" so you have a 1/2" section and 2- 4 1/2" sections.

Step 2:  Apply glue (I used double-sided tape) to the 1/2" section and glue it to the 4 1/2" section of your second piece of 9 1/2" x 5 1/8".  Repeat.  This will make a box.

Step 3:  Score your 6 9/16" square 1" on each side.

Step 4:  Using a cutting template (or tracing around the opening of the tissue box), cut an oval shape from the center of the 6 9/16" piece. 

Step 5:  Cut one side of the squares that were made when you scored the 9 1/16" piece.  You will need the cuts to be able to fold this piece into the lid. 

Step 6:  Using some adhesive (I used an adhesive square), fold the cut square under to form the lid.

Step 7: Once you have made the lid, place it INSIDE the box you have created and apply adhesive so that it stays. 

Step 8:  DECORATE!!

Your teacher will thank you!!  And don't stop there...get started on Christmas or birthday presents.  Who doesn't like a pretty tissue box?  I even made one for my office!!

Teacher Gift

It's that time of year when the school year is winding done.  It's time to start thinking of some fun ways to thank that awesome teacher that spent the whole year with your child.  Here is a quick and easy project (especially good if you have multiple teachers to make gifts for) that you can try...

With a little cardstock and some fun "School is Cool" paper, you can whip up these Matchbook Post-it Note Holders in a snap!!  Or better yet...have your child help you!!
